raven's roost overlook

We stopped off there on a suggestion. And we were so glad that we did. Beautiful views, and a nice stone guard rail for me. (I am afraid of heights).

We travel to Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway quite often. Love to sit on the stone wall at Ravens Roost and just look at the mountains. You are just about Lyndhurst & Waynesboro.

The 'hype' built this place as incredible views - the actuality was a bit lackluster.The vantage point allows for viewing up to several miles, but there really isn't much to see except for lots of trees and a few scattered farms. Might be better in the Fall (Autumn) with the leaves changing color.There is a place to the far end of the overlook that provides for rappelling and rock-climbing.(you'll need to provide your own equipment)Parking lot: Small (paved)Facilities: NonePicnic tables: a fewSafety: Keep a close watch or hand on little ones
