If you are an avid golfer, play this track. You will enjoy all aspects. Great landscape, course condition, playability and challenge. A top 100 in the US, and I have played about 25 of Golf Digests list of top 100!

We were disappointed in our meal here. Since it is part of The Homestead I guess we were expecting a bit more. My husband's portions for the sides for roasted chicken were very small. Fettuccine alfredo was on the menu and I asked if they could add chicken which they did. The chicken seemed like it had just been boiled with no seasonings -in fact the whole meal did not have much flavor. I kept adding salt and finally requested some parmesan cheese which helped some. We had to ask for bread. It was fairly tasty but again a very small portion. The server was polite and the view was nice.

This part of Virginia is absolutely beautiful- not a difficult hike by any means. A great adventure for the entire family

We were here at the Homestead for the VDA meeting. We played our annual tournament on the Cascades course. This course was in perfect condition and the day was just as perfect. I have played this course many times but this was the best condition I have ever seen. The staff was most helpful and we had a great time.

We weren't expecting fine dining and we were pleased with our basic dishes. Burgers, very fresh salads.

Apparently this course has been rated #1 in VA for 88 years in a row. That's an amazing statistic which became harder to believe each time I played the course ( a total of 3 times so far). The course is tough, no question about it, but that is because there is no run and some of the holes are really long for an average golfer (5 holes over 400 yards off white tees) and a par 3 at 214 yards! And the gnats and mosquitoes are something else. Now I have not played other courses in VA so I cannot compare. But if this is #1, it doesn't say much for the others. Or is the rating just based on history? Like the Old Course at The Homestead, the overriding memory is of traffic. A road runs close to several of the holes and the trucks are noisy, too noisy to leave good memories. A pity! And that is without taking the pricey green fee into consideration. And the 5 hour round!

Wonderful golf course, excellent caddies and service at the course was just great. The only thing that I will say is that the menu and food quality were a let down. This is probably reflective of the overall Omni management of the hotel property as a whole.

Cascades was recommended for lunch but we wanted something small for breakfast so ate a late breakfast here. I had a spinach and feta breakfast sandwich which hit the spot. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the golfers.I wished we had had lunch here on one of our days. The menu looked good. The service was great. We didn't play golf because we had other things scheduled... but my husband said he would love to play this course next time. Our server told us Mondays are the best day to go. They only had 40 golfers that day...

The Cascades Course is probably my favorite course. Just a wonderful layout steeped in history. You can picture Sam Snead playing the course barefoot as a teenager. The whole course is great, but Holes 12-18 are as pretty as any inland course could be. The course is always in great shape and it's a good example that a course doesn't have to be over 7,000 yards to be a challenge.

Best golf in Virginia. The mountains, the views, the challenge, the streams. Everything. Perfect golf. Not perfect game.

We had a great time at the cascades course. It is breathtaking beautiful and very challenging. The deer on whole #3 is said to be almost a pet as it did not move the entire time we were there. Bring your camera and extra balls for a great time golfing!

Nice place to hit the greens. We've always enjoyed the driving range on this one. Family friendly and self serving most of the time. Kids enjoy the golf-ride up to the range. Be sure and bring some Off-lotion/spray--there were some pesky mosquitoes/flies on the range, but the view form the top was breathtaking and enjoyable!

It is very expensive for what you get, which is not a top notch course, but it is certainly fun to play and provides some beautiful views.
