After a long day of sightseeing in the beautiful state of South Dakota, and surviving unexpected highway repairs while travelling by motorcycle, we arrived in the serene town of Hot Springs. Not having the foresight to make a reservation, we were pleasantly surprised to be able to secure the last available room in this GEM of a historic boutique hotel. While we were given a tour of the rooms and spa facilities by the personable desk clerk, we realized how fortunate we were to be able to partake in sharing this hotel with its other guests. The room we occupied was very spacious and had lovely aesthetic appeal. As we had purchased the spa package, we decided to sample all of its offerings...and were not disappointed! From the hot tub, to the dry sauna...to the heated sand room we were amazed at the privacy this establishment afforded its inhabitants. My favorite was the spa room with the heated granite floors...I could have fallen asleep with the deep relaxation it offered! The price of the package was ridiculously low...and my husband and I felt we had won the jackpot by getting the opportunity to experience this wonderful destination. Although the hotel does not claim a restaurant, the helpful staff were able to recommend excellent dining alternatives which were within two blocks of the Red Rock River Resort. We would definitely stay there again if we were to travel in the vicinity. Don't miss out on this fantastic establishment!

after hours of driving to Mt. Rushmore,(with 7 and 9 year old kids) I finally found a jewel well-hidden in the state of SD. The building was built in 1891 and kept most of its original structure. . family owned business they know how to treat customers.... quiet and relaxex atmosphere I extended my summer after I found this place... Hot Springs in SD..

Loved all the rooms here. It was such a nice place to stay. Clean and comfortable. Not the conventional hotel.

Very nice hotel and the rooms are completely updated along with the rest of the hotel. We stayed in room 207 and it was very spacious with a nice size fridge and huge walk in shower with dual heads. We really didn't partake in the spa part of the stay even though we paid extra for it. The sauna rooms were really well done and the hot tub was decent. We did use that one evening. The hotel is located in a good part of town right across for the main walking/biking trail that is well paved and runs right along the river. It's only 1.2 miles long but it is a very scenic ride/walk, we rode several times. Parking is free right out front of the hotel and there was always a space available. There is a very extensive coffee bar in the lobby as well. Quiet property and appeared to be one of the best hotels in town. While your there the Mammoth site is a must see. Only takes a hour to hour and a half but really interesting. Other than that be advised, there is limited eating and activities within Hot Springs. The drive to Keystone is right at an hour via 79 and 40.

The place is not what I'd call a resort - but they seem to be trying hard.

My husband & I just spent 2 nights enjoyable and comfortable nights at the Red Rock River Resort. The rooms are very nicely done, comfortable. Newly done, and respectful of the old building's character. There is an added big-screen tv and reading room, eating area room with table and chairs, and a spot, outside the spa, to enjoy morning coffee. We recommend going with the rom plus spa package. Owners have put in a nice spa, with hot tub, sauna, heated sand and granite tiled rooms on which to stretch out. In addition, massages are available, although we were to busy to have one. The rest was perfect to use, any time of day, OR night, but especially after a long day of site seeing.I must mention the coffee bar on the first floor. Well stocked. Get whatever you could possibly want. And a grand piano adds a nice touch.Hosts are there to accomodate every need. Well worth, and more, the cost.

Very disappointing. We were expecting a luxury resort type hotel based pm the ads and the price but instead arrived at a run down old building. The rooms ate bland and uninspired and the beds old and uncomfortable.

No problems at all. last summer my fiance and I went for a weekend of relaxiation after my proposal to her. ( were happily married now) The owner took care of every worry all night. An amazing selection of teas and he even got us some handisnakcs from his fridge in the middle of the night because we were hungry. The spa was excellent. Its the entire top floor, i wont go into all the rooms, but ill describe is at a gourmet spa buffet. Best of all, it was just me and my lady. No one else there to bother us. Try an excellent experience!Chad and Susan Wharton

We had a wonderful time. The staff was unbelievable! They were kind and accomodating every moment of our stay. It really felt like we were guests in someone's home. The spa facilities were great, but the treatments were outstanding. I had a lymphatic massage and felt my general health improved as a result. My husband had a hot stone massage and really enjoyed the benefits of his treatment. The breakfast was delicious, the coffee was endless and the conversation was terrific. We can see this town and this resort being a wellness mecca for those interested in rest and relaxation. We will definately be back.
