A favorite thing to do when traveling to a new spot is to find the local farmers market. The Harrisonburg Farmers Market is in the historic downtown area, and is easy to find with plenty of free parking. The market has an impressive outdoor pavilion and had quite a few vendors present in spite of the frigid temps. One, brilliantly, was offering ready to eat savory hot soup. The lovely market manager graciously answered all my newbie to town questions. Glad to see such a great use of downtown space for this vibrant market!

Whenever we travel, if a farmers market is there and open, I will find it! The Harrisonburg Market is easy to find in the historic downtown area and has plenty of free parking. Despite the frigid temps and snow on the ground, there were an impressive number of vendors present. One, brilliantly, offering hot savory soups. The Farmers Market manager, Josie, is a lovely and happily answered all of my questions. The market is housed under an impressive outdoor pavilion. Great use of downtown space. Thumbs up!

We were visiting Harrisonburg on our annual trip to Massanutten Resort. This trip we decided to take in the market in Harrisonburg. This market is very close to the Visitor's center and Quilt Museum in downtown Harrisonburg. You will find it under a long picnic type shelter behind the museum. Here we walked down the wide middle and took in all the local crafts and food. There were vegetables from gardens even in winter, honey and honey products, candles, soaps, knit goods, wood workings, jewelry, pastries, bread that smelled great, greens, meats such as beef, lamb and pork, different cultures food and even ribs and BBQ and more! This is one of the most interesting markets and it is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Saturdays until 1:00 in the winter. We got honey and sweet potatoes the last time we were there but this time just enjoyed the vendors. Lots of people with market baskets shopping. Great coffee to drink while you walked or buy by the bag to take home. Very active and near other attractions downtown. We also walked to the visitors center and the New Leaf Café that was packed. Worth the visit if you enjoy local farmers markets!

We have loved our visits to the Farmers Market! We actually drive up from Waynesboro and enjoy the wonderful people that provide local goods. The one thing to keep in mind is that there are generally two forms of payment accepted (with a few exceptions). The first is cash, the second is a token system. The main desk can run a card with a small fee and provide you tokens to be used at any of the vendors. A couple do accept credit cards; however, not all do.Parking is free right beside the market and everything is accessible. I have taken a stroller each time with little trouble. Remember a bag to carry everything though! We have purchased everything from dairy products, vegetables, meat, to rolling pins at this market. Each item was beyond anything we could have asked for and were pleased with them all. Every single person we have interacted with were so helpful and nice. It is a different atmosphere, one that everyone needs every once in a while (or every week in our case). If you are curious of the exact list of vendors the Farmers Market has a website that lists the vendors as well as some other nice information.

Great place to remind ourselves of the Shenandoah Valley's heritage, with local food and handicrafts.

Nice selections of local produce, meats, wines, breads, crafts, plants & flowers. All at reasonable prices. Vendors are friendly & warm. It's a small market but has everything you could want! It's well worth the trip!

We took our Sunday School group to the farmers market and it was very enlightening for the children and the adults. Many different items available from several different vendors who did not mind taking time to answer questions and even, on occasion, provide a taste to the "doubting Thomases." Several of the children had never seen corn in the husk or tomatoes with the vine caps still attached. The fruits were probably the most enjoyed. It was a wonderful experience and the produce and variety are excellent.

This was a small market. I was very surprised with corn and tomatoes being in season how expensive they were selling them for.

Stopped by the Farmers Market on a recent trip to Harrisonburg. Great variety of fresh produce, meat, flowers, herbs and crafts Creative gifts and some good deals on produce - although, I was a little shocked that some corn was selling for $7 a dozen. It was a nice stop on a Saturday morning.

Homemade goodies and homegrown produce. A great place to browse and shop. In downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia.

This was certainly a nice find when we visited Harrisonburg. This really isn't a typical farmers market. The market was outdoors under a large pavilion. The produce and baked goods are as fresh as you can get. There are also some vendors that sell little knick knacks and textiles (which were actually pretty cool). If you're in the area it's certainly worth a quick stop by.

Even if you're just passing by Harrisonburg, be sure to stop at this place! Not your typical farmers market... This place is mostly indoor, yet also features a greenhouse and an area selling storage buildings. Even a great place just to stop and stretch for a little bit, very clean and well-kept bathrooms also available! They have a cafe, mostly featuring sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc but if you're there around lunch time they also feature a buffet. Overall the buffet is average, but you're still better off going with one of their hot dogs or the Ruben sandwich! One store sells quilts, pillow shams, knick knacks, and civil war-era goodies. Fun store to browse in with lots of interesting goods. Another store sells kitchen gadgets of all sorts. Another sells equipment and things for horses, even used saddles. Antique lovers will LOVE stopping here and browsing around. Lots of antiques, everything from furniture to random little odds and ends. The main feature of this charming little market is the Mennonite-run area of the store. The upper end sells all kinds of grocery-goodies. Everything from candies, snacks, beef sticks, baked goods, cheeses, etc Great prices...be sure not to miss the pepperonied cheese or the home-made pimento cheese spread! Another Mennonite-run area features a canning area where they home make all kinds of jams, jellys, pie fillings, etc Tons of free samples of all their good eats...don't miss sampling their 'butters' such as apple butter, pear butter and banana butter!

What an amazing place. From the crafts and art, to furniture and quilts, to home-baked goods and cooking ware. Was there over and over and still found something different and amazing each time.

I visit the Harrisonburg Farmer's Market as much as possible. It the is the BEST Farmer's Market I have ever been to. The vendors and overall ambience is so friendly and wonderful. Even when I'm done purchasing the excellent fresh goods available, I linger, just to save some of the happiness.

Clean, well-organized. Great variety from local growers and artisans. Coffee, tea, flowers, fruits and vegetables.
