Take a stroll down state street and get a feel for what southern charm and hospitality is! A travelers must visit! So much to do and see!

My experience of Historic Downtown Bristol has come full circle. The experience began for me in the year 2000 while antiquing. I fell in love with the downtown community, therefore, opened a successful business, expanded the business, purchased historic buildings & renovated the upper floors into residential lofts. Today, 15 years later, I continue to work, live, play and be a cheerleader for our downtown Bristol. I encourage everyone to make a visit to my Bristol...do the Caterpillar Crawl, buy a toy, grab a donut, fresh bagel, or breakfast croissant; then shop for clothes or shoes for females or males, shop for antiques, relax while receiving a mani/pedi or new hair style...guys get a straight razor shave. Then, grab a burger, diner-style! Enjoy sushi, cocktails & live music at numerous venues. Meditate at the art galleries, enjoy a cup of egg drop soup and a glass of wine. Take home a box of fresh fudge for later. Stroll the sidewalks in two states with one-state-of-mind critiquing outdoor sculptures while puffing on a hand-rolled cigar. Play a round of pool and share a beer and wings with friends or family. Whew...after a "Downtown Bristol day" perhaps you too can retire to your loft just to start it all over again tomorrow. After all, it's Bristol Baby!

As the sign at the end of State Street, its a "good" place to live, not a great place, but a good place. I grew up in Bristol and while I have fond memories, there's not a lot here. Curiously, the main street, "State Street" divides the city into Virginia and Tennessee...by the street's dotted line.

Love the antique malls and little shops, and lots of good food to be sampled at the various cafes and restaurants on State Street!

State street--also called Siamese city (Bristol ,tn and va) is really starting to come alive. Each September the city pays homage to his country music roots with a three-day festival that stays true to the music.

Beautiful downtown area with unique shopping and trendy restaurants. It continues to grow into something wonderful for the area.

A lot of historic old brick buildings. Good restaurants but not to much on the healthy side. Drink prices are very low compared to where we live. (ie: $5 for a 32 oz draft or $6 for a specialty mixed drink). Parking was not an issue though we were not there on a race week.

It's cool to walk down one side of the street in Virginia, and walk back up the other side in Tennessee. But that was about it for the excitement on a Saturday evening. The shops were all closed, there was nothing going on! It is unique, but it's a been there, done that attraction!

Took my wife out for a date night after a tough day. Headed to State Street. Grabbed dinner at 620 State then a nice walk over to Blackbird Backery for desert. Lovely evening and very enjoyable time downtown!

Old buildings redone and charming stores, restaurants, theaters. Would spend a whole day just on State St. alone

Bristol Rythm and Roots Reunion was amazing again. This is our 4th year attending. Saw 7 bands on Friday evening and all were winners. On Saturday we saw 10 bands and loved all but 1. You cannot beat the price of $40 for a weekend pass and have the opportunity to see over 100 bands. Very well organized. All the locals and volunteers are friendly and helpful. We purchased 6 CD's of bands we had never heard of and now love. The sound wether you are at an indoor or outdoor stage is perfect. I don't know how they do it. If you love live music, this is the place to be. This year it included bluegrass, country, cajin, soul and rock.

There was tons to do on race week. Loved it! We did not get to visit too many of the stores because of the numbers of tables/booths set up on the street for the race celebration (Thursday night before the race). We did find the store where 2 of the Moonshiners by their overalls. Remember to get a picture of the Bristol Virginia/Tennessee sign, and check out the inserts in the pavement along the center of the street.

We went there to stroll around and visit the antique shops. We found that most store close at 5:00 PM or earlier and are not open on the weekends. This makes it nearly impossible for folks who WORK to shop. Disappointment.

Had a good time looking through all the antique shops. People are very friendly. A lot to look at. Convenient parking.
