yale collection of musical instruments

耶鲁大学的乐器收藏博物馆在耶鲁大学音乐学院内，收藏并展示了各式各样的乐器，相当多乐器很古老，我从来没有见过。虽然有英文的介绍，但可惜还是没有搞清楚。建议对乐器有兴趣的人去参观，只要是上班时间，都免费开放。

I love music and old musical instruments and therefore I was intrigued when I learnt Yale University had a collection of musical instruments.The collection is not too far from the touristic center of New Haven but it has odd opening hours (1 to 4 PM Tuesday – Saturday, 1 to 5 PM on Sundays, closed on Mondays).I made a special effort and added a visit to my itinerary: The visit to the small collection is free of charge, like all Yale University's museums, and my only complaint is that it looks more like a warehouse than a museum.It's packed with rare and very beautiful objects, but the small size of the museum makes it difficult to properly admire them or taking good pictures.Nevertheless, visiting there was well worth the effort, so if you like musical instruments – go and spend 30 minutes at the collection.

Great stuff to see. Quite small so it won't take a long time to see the items on display. If you don't see something you are interested in, just ask - they may have it not on display.

This collection is definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately the opening hours are uncommon, it is only open in the afternoons. It is a great collection, you can see many interesting instruments and at the pianos you can also hear examples played on the particular instrument. Check the website in advance to make sure that the collection is open. There is no fee but you can make donations. Also during the academic year there are concerts in the big hall on the 2nd floor. The hall has very good acoustic characteristics so a concert there is really a beautiful experience. Note that you need to register in advance. With Yale ID it is for free, but if you do not have one, check the possibilities or eventual prices on the phone. For further information and phone number for registration you can check the homepage. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. We went there with our little child (2,5 y) and everyone was very welcoming and helpful. We also managed to get tickets to the concert. I wasn't sure that our daughter will be able to be quite during the concert, but they told us both the organizers and the musicians are used to little children. The musicians did a great job because our daughter got mesmerized from the first note until the last one, and she told us it was amazing.

A wonderful place to visit. A real window into the past.People who like music will be fascinated with this museum.
