mccoy's river and marsh tours

What a thoroughly enjoyable 2+ hours on the river with Benny! My husband and I started our 48 hours off from work with this delightful journey into nature. The flat bottomed boat provided a shaded top, water proof cushions and the weather was perfect. Benny was a GREAT guide and resource of ALL things river. We saw all manner of birds and their nests, plant life along the banks, beautiful scenery and yes, an alligator - as well as a peep at an alligator's nest. He is a FOUNTAIN of knowledge - botanical, biological, local, historical, literature, art and then some - he does not want for knowledge. All delivered with self effacing humor and wonder. All in all, I would have turned around, handed Benny more money and gone right back out with him! GO! You will not be disappointed. Relax and enjoy the bayou. It was the highlight of our 48 hours in Mississippi.

I spent a week on the Gulf Coast and had a strong desire to see an alligator in it's "natural" habitat. I contacted McCoy's River and Marsh Tours and was able to get a spot for the next day because I was willing to go out with a school group.The boat tour goes out from the Pascagoula River Audubon Center which is interesting to check out while you are there. We hadn't even left the dock when Capt. Benny spotted an alligator! You can tell that he thoroughly enjoys sharing his former childhood waterway "playground" with people like me and the school kids (11-12 year olds). He was very patient with their questions and gave out information in spurts--driving the boat awhile and then stopping to point out something or explain something. I learned so much from him but also SAW so much--alligators (more than one), wild boar, osprey, a bald eagle, turtles, nests--both bird and alligator, as well as different types of grasses/trees that we passed by. The tour went way over and above my expectations!
