5 or 6 years ago this was one of the nicest wineries in Central Missouri. We visited there today to have a bottle of wine and just relax. I was surprised at how ran down it now looks, the tasting room smelled like a dog kennel and the remainder of the place was average at best. It is still an OK place to go but doesn't come close to the other wineries within a 30 mile radius. Too bad

I have been to four weddings here in the past and now I'm a regular! BEAUTIFUL venue with an extremely friendly, professional staff! Excellent tasting wine, a great beer selection, and unbeatable prices. The place is always spotless and the staff is always ready to bend over backwards to satisfy you as a customer. There is NO more relaxing place in the area that I know of to go have a tasty glass of wine and relax! The view is astoundingly beautiful and again, the wine is delicious! In addition to the friendly staff, there are also a few very friendly dogs running around that, in my opinion, add to the experience. The food menu is random but always REALLY delicious! I've had pulled pork sandwiches, meatloaf sandwiches, and the meat trays. All home cooked and mouth watering!!! Kelly can cook! As far as weddings go, I've had two cousins and two friends get married here and they were by far the most beautiful, organized weddings I've ever been to. Highly recommended place to just go and chill or book your event! As for the recent negatives, I'm just going to throw this out there...If a venue has been doing weddings for 20 years, with a flawless reputation for doing so, and yours went so bad the police had to come and force you to leave... The venue is probably not the problem.Btw all employees there are 21+. Saying they're trends is damaging and outright slander, which is illegal.

We had my brothers wedding here on 9-13-14. First of all, the staff was all very rude, including the owner Kelly. Also, there was a dog running around during the ceremony, all over the brides dress, and through the crowd. We were under the impression we had the whole place to ourselves only to find out there was a drunken 40th birthday party there also. The owner had told all of us we had the place until at least 11 but when 9:15 rolled around we caught her and her employees throwing our stuff out of the room where the bridal party got ready. When asked what was going on she got irate and told my brother she was calling the cops. My brother had also purchased 2 cases (24 bottles) of wine and a keg of beer only to find out the bar was charging the guests for the alcohol. The bathrooms were disgusting and smelled horrible. When the cops showed up it scared my niece and nephews as they were scared my brother and sister in law were going to jail. After all was said we cleaned up all the wedding decorations, loaded up, and headed out. I will never go back to this venue.

Never go to this "vineyard"!! My friend chose this venue for her wedding. The owner Kelly, is rude and sneaky. Her children are worse. The owner double booked her place, so while the wedding was going on, a belligerent birthday party was also going on. Wedding Guests were verbally assaulted by the birthday party, and then the bridal party found the owner going through their belongings & dumping them outside in the dirt. Kelly verbally agreed prior to the event that the reception would need to be over at 11pm. At 9pm she started shutting everything down, when asked why she was doing that, she called the police instead of trying to talk to the groom. The wedding party was not in any way rowdy. Furthermore, the bride & groom paid for 2 cases of wine (only 1 case was distributed) and 2 kegs of beer, which the winery decided to SELL to the wedding guests by the cup. Also, the owner put an "out of order" sign on the bathroom that was attached to the brides dressing room (it worked fine) and forced the bride to use the filthy outdoor restroom. The owner is unprofessional and rude. Bride & groom paid a lot of money for their big day, only to be treated like trash. We will Never, ever go back.

Last year we tried to do a "wine tour" on Tuesday before I had to go back to work on Wednesday, but we found out the Missouri vineyards are closed on Tuesday. Then almost every time we drove by, we were either in a hurry or had our children with us. This was a spur of a moment visit, and it was worth it. Normally we like sweet wines, but the semi-sweet Mont Blanc appealed to our taste buds today. The workers were friendly and helpful, the scenery was beautiful, the wine was refreshing, and the company was entertaining. We look forward to visiting again when we have the opportunity to relax.

Montserrat Vineyards is a great place to hang out with friends or even as a couple. They have an excellent choice of wines to taste, all a product of the vineyards that surround you. Once you have decided on a wine, you may purchase small food trays with cheese, meats, fruit, and bread, and pick a shady spot to relax and enjoy. They have a large, covered deck as well as other seating on the grounds, all located at the top of a hill surrounded by their vineyards and a picture perfect Westerly view of the sunset. The cost for wine and snacks is reasonable, and the view can't be beat!

A great relaxing place to go and hang out with friends. Go when their is a poetry fest or other event. At the highest point in Johnson County.

We were staying in Knob Noster and stopped by this winery. There were a few reasons we came here - close by, we love wine, there is a geocache and to get another stamp in our Missouri wine passport. We accomplished all of our tasks! Scotty was great and helpful both in the wine tasting and helping find the 'lost' geocache. (it has been replaced at it's home location now) The view is great and it was a sunny, warm fall afternoon to sit outside and enjoy a bottle. This seems to be the place to gather in the evenings - they have live music at times and also offer different beers if you like those instead of wine. On a Sunday afternoon it was quiet and only a few other people enjoying the day outside. We will have to return in the summer and check out the weekend fun. Too bad they don't offer food....we would have stayed longer.

In response to the unhappy lady.. The unfortunate turn out of your event had to have been on your end. I have been coming back to this Winery for YEARS! I have made many, many, recomendations to all of my family, friends, and co-workers who have all been more than excited to there next get away to the winery. Their staff is extremly nice, and did everything to ensure my wedding went nothing but perfect. All of my guests whom have not been to the winery previous to the wedding are still raving about the view, wine, and great workers that were there making my wedding a day to remember. I have had numerous friends host parties, and corporate events at the winery who have all been extremly pleased with the flawless turn out. Anyone who is thinking about going to the winery I would HIGHLY recomend that you go. Their wine is great! The service is great! The view is breath taking!

I come to the winery all the time for the best tasting wine and the amazing entertaining people! The employees and owners are always so nice and friendly! They can answer any questions or help with anything. The view is the best i have ever seen! Don't hesitate to bring all your friends out to enjoy the award-winning wine and the time and effort they put into scheduling events, weddings, and birthdays. They can accomidate a large group of people so if you love wine and having a good time they can arrange to schedule any type of an event! Hope to see you out there!

Fair warning: Montserrat vineyards will drop your event without any notification if a perceived better one comes along. We were excited about having our anniversary event for 50-60 people at the vineyard, thought it would be unique. We met with the staff in person to plan the decorations and seating, after which we were prepared to leave a reservation deposit but they waived it since our event was being held on an off-peak day. This made us a little nervous but they told us that the caterer would require a deposit for the food at an unspecified later time and we figured that would be adequate. Well, as the event drew closer we were playing phone tag with the caterer trying to arrange both the menu and the deposit. We were in contact with the winery staff who assured us on MULTIPLE occasions that our reservation was on the books regardless of the communication difficulty we were having with the caterer. Finally, out of frustration with the relentless phone tag, we went to the winery in person to leave the caterer's deposit. Upon arriving there, we were told that they had booked another party for the date and time we had reserved as the new party had been willing to leave a deposit on the spot! And as such, they would no longer be able to host our event. This was an outrage, because we had been more than willing to leave a deposit, it had been their suggestion to waive it! This left us in the lurch with only three weeks to find an alternative, which turned out to be more expensive and out of town...quite inconvenient for our many guests from the Warrensburg area. If your event is very important to your family and friends (as our was), you should not take the risk of working with these dishonest, unscrupulous people.

I go out of my to go this winery anytime I am in the area. They make some good wine. Most people prefer their Damifino. I prefer their Norton and their Damifino and their Mead. Damifino is a sweet red wine, Norton is a dry red, and Mead is an ancient type wine that some call a honeywine.
