witch's hat depot museum

The Witch's Hat Depot used to be located on the south side of town where the two railroad lines crossed. The Depot was moved to McHattie park in the late 1970s (I think). It is currently used as a historical museum for the local area.IMPORTANT! Don't assume that this place will be open if you are planning on taking a trip to see the musem. This museum has a very limited schedule, and I strongly advise that you call first to see if it will be open.I visited the Witch's Hat Depot Museum during the "Depot Days" festival in 2012. There were lots of fun activities there for the kids.Nearby the Witch's Hat are some historic buildings which have been moved to McHattie Park from the surrounding community. There is a one room schoolhouse, a small chapel (built from a material kit, as was sold through the Sears Catalog), a bandstand gazebo, a caboose and a reproduction of the railroad freight terminal. A small parking lot is very close to the musuem. There is another parking lot on the other side of McHattie park which serves the playground and rail-trail.
