Have lived nearby for my lifetime yet never did the tour until 2014. Was very pleased to finally be able to climb up the stairs to the top of this beautiful lighthouse. The stairs are steep so be prepared, fun to see pictures and items from long ago.

Right on the shores of Lake Michigan sits this sweet little gem. A museum with a view. If you do go, make sure you walk out to the end of the pier and soak in the sunshine.

Nice place as part of our fall color/lighthouse cruise. Able to great lighthouse pictures from down below.

What a nostalgic location! The grounds were quiet, and the lighthouse itself is so compact and sturdy that it looks like it "dares" the elements to blow it away. This is one you ought to see to add to your lighthouse collection of places you have visited. We did not get inside to see what facilities were there because it was closed on the day we visited it. I would have loved to see what the interior was like.

I enjoyed visiting the lighthouse very much. I have lived in Whitehall all my life and I was glad to finally visit one of the Great Lakes neatest lighthouses which was built in 1875!

A beautiful example of what lighthouses were like. It seems a little ways from the water now. But three minute walk and there you are. The museums items includes an item from the Edmond Fitzgerald. I Loved the "homey" feeling here.

It's a bit of a trek to get to this light station (well, they weren't built to be visited by car), but worth the time to see part of American history. No tall tower to climb, but no light in the light room. The museum has a number of artifacts including a life ring from the Edmond Fitzgerald.

Beautiful grounds and scenery. Unfortunately we assumed it would be open, but the station building is closed on Mondays. We'll have to try again another time.

Love this lighthouse, even got married by it. A little walk to the beach though and its on a small curvy road on the way back not a good spot in the winter but gorgous to view.

This is our second (my wife and myself) trip to the white river light station. Its good to see that SPLKA is doing more to promote the lighthouse, but is sad to see the basement is closed off.

Beautiful area, this lighthouse has a lot of history and you can ask about it from the curator/keeper that resides in the lighthouse. Check at the visitors bureau in Whitehall for family pricing available. We purchased a family pass for $10 there during a festival.Take South Shore Drive along White Lake to Murray Rd. Murray is very curvy and some are sharp and over hills. Go slow, lavender and deer live down here. Every time I go through this once bustling area, I think of the movie Dirty Dancing.

Loved the extensive history, documentation and items available. This piece of Michigan light house history would be good for families with children that are out of the toddler stage. Steep steps and many artifacts. This historical site would be good for a stop and spend max 45 minutes at the Light house. The MI beach is just down from the channel, but the winds were so strong we were not able to enjoy the lade or beach.

This was our 2nd lighthouse of our 2nd day going up the coast, we got here right as it opened and paid to get in. It was a bit difficult to find and nestled in the middle of nowhere. The girl working was friendly and the museum was neat. Loved going up in the tower and looking out. It wasn't very far to go up and the spiral staircase was manageable. A must see if you're into lighthouses.

The museum itself was closed, but the grounds are very pretty and it's a short walk along the lake to the beach at Lake Michigan.

Cute little lighthouse. Nice area to walk around. Did not climb the stairs because would have cost $8.
