There are two camping areas within the park. The Channel Campground is bordered by Muskegon Lake, Muskegon Lake Channel, and Lake Michigan. The Lake Michigan Campground, is of course, on Lake Michigan.

Muskegon State Park is a great place to go year round and we have been there several times. However this was our first time during the winter and had the most amazing time. We spent the night in the yurt. I highly recommend this experience. The park provides plenty of wood to keep the wood burner running day and night. We were never cold in there. We tried every one of the winter activities and had a blast. My personal favorite was the ice skating and hiking on the beaches of Lake Michigan. Enjoy

Muskegon State Park is a great place to go year around. I most recently went again this winter for the ice skating trail and hockey rinks. There are about 3 or 4 separate rinks where impromptu hockey games will pick up as well as just basic skating. There is also a few trails through the woods that are iced over so you can skate through the woods. Cross Country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and luge are also available for those what want to do something else. The cost was only $5 per person if you have your own skates and renting seemed reasonable as well. A little lodge with some food items and a fire to warm up are also there. A great way to spend some time outdoors in the winter.

In side the State park is the Muskegon Winter Complex. We went Luging with our Friends and had the most amazing time. A must do if you like the rush of adrenalin. Great staff. There's a lot to do their for all ages.

I visit this State Park often in the summer. Lake Michigan being the primary reason. The beach area and sand dunes are breath taking. The water is fresh and you always have privacy. Id recommend camping for the weekend. Muskegon has so many local attractions that you can swim all day and visit the town at night. Also not to mention Michigan Adventure Park is less than 20 minutes from this state park. Beautiful park, clean facilities, amazing swims, climbing sand dunes, perfect price, and location. This park has it all.

There are two small cabins in the state park and a YURT (round, double-walled tent) right on the trails!

I could go on and on about how beautiful this place is and how there are hot showers that are kind of dirty feeling and sandy, take your flip flops into the shower. You can't go wrong w/ picking this as a campsite....but enough has been said about all of that in the surrounding reviews. What I want to let you know about is the ice cream situation. It is this, if you want to walk around the park and get Ice Cream, Ruth Anne's is right there. It's the kind of ice cream that gets scooped out of bins, you can also get kids kind on a stick w. shapes like hello kitty. It's ice cream and ice cream is good, but it's expensive to take, say a family of five, to get ice cream. I think we spent 25$ on ice cream. An alternative is to take a short drive...back out the way you came into the park you will have passed a place called "Scoops" which is part of Snug Harbor resort. We got the same family all ice cream and I think we spent like 6$. We all got cones. This is the soft serve ice cream, which is what I like. They have so many flavors, I got raspberry. The family that owns it is very friendly and it's just a short drive or bike ride. So there you have it...two different places to get ice cream. One for each day.

Went for a short visit. Was very clean and beautiful. The boats were beautiful too. People who were fishing and walking around were very friendly and water was blue. Light house was neat too.

Miles and miles of sand dunes and beach. My husband and I sat atop one of the sandy hills and watched the various boats go by. Loved it!!

We have been to this campground for seven years now. In fact, we are there right now. It's beautiful! We have a pathway right down to the beach, and we can watch the boats from our lot. We love this park! We have found the staff to be polite and helpful. I know one reviewer was upset that they were not allowed to look around at the campground during the busy season, but we have had that happen to us with other MI State Parks, also. Our grandsons enjoy climbing the dunes and walking through the woods. The beach is small, but comfortable. The only reason I am rating it four stars instead of five stars is the bathrooms. They are average. I know one reviewer said they are clean, but we have stayed in many parks that are much cleaner than this one. The hot water was out for a few days, also. But that doesn't happen very often.

Take a peaceful, easy walk from parking lot to Lake Michigan, and breathe in some really clean air. Views of brilliant white snow and vast expanse of water is exhilirating.

Muskegon State Park is nice, but lacked things/access to do stuff. We like a camp ground with activities and bike trails. The beach was awesome and it has great spots for viewing the sunsets. Across the street is the US Olympic luge track which was allot of fun too.

Muskegon State Park is a great park. The campground itself is within VERY mature trees, which provides excellent shade. There are some sites with partial sun, but most sites are very well shaded. Because of all the trees, it's difficult for large RV's to fit, but if you have a pop-up or tent it's ideal. The best part about this campground is that it has direct beach access to Lake Michigan. It is a private beach for the park campers. It is walking distance from all campsites. It has a beautiful observation desk overlooking Lake Michigan and stairs that lead down to the beach. The beach has fine white sand and is kept very clean. The bathrooms and bathhouses at the park are modern and kept clean. You have your own private shower and changing room. The campground is located just a few miles from Michigan Adventure. Although there were several restaurants to choose from, we did not visit any of them. There is ample grocery shopping near the campground. The only advice I would give anyone if they visit this campground is to bring bug spray and tiki torches. Because of all the trees and the Lake, mosquitos can get bothersome. We traveled over six hours to visit this campground and would definitely return. The sunsets here are amazing!!!

Beautiful hiking trails, Lake Michigan beach is not over crowded and it is very clean. The boat launch is busy but the boat traffic is steadily moving and not long waits.

This park offers something for everyone all year long. The Lake Michigan beach is obviously a highlight, but winter also brings the chance for ice skating, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and even a trip down the luge. A day or more spent here is well worth the time.
