In the world of historic district, Heritage Hill is a leader and has been developed and cared for, for many years to preserve and maintain an incredible section of classic period homes.

As an European, it always failed to impress me. An area with homes from "HAYDAYS' but that's it - would I not assume it is something special I would not pay too much attention. Overrated

Maybe it's because I'm spoiled by the much greater variety in architecture we enjoy in Southern California, but it got tired soon.Monotonous.

I live in the neighborhood and never tire of the beautiful surroundings. The area covers alot of ground and every street missed is another treasure passed.

Our guide was knowledgeable and very passionate about her city. It was an very interesting ride, and the trolley was cute.

Great houses and friendly people. We took a long walk and had a great time. We couldn't visit the Frank Lloyd Wright house because it was closed but the other houses were great to look at.

This area was going to be torn down in the late 60's/early 70's until a few visionaries fought to save it. Stunning historic homes, including Frank Lloyd Wright. Very worthwhile to drive through and visit.

One of my favorite things to do is to run or walk down the streets of Heritage Hill. The houses are beautiful (a few have pretty garish colors, but if this were Puerto Rico, that would be normal). A lot of time and care has gone into preserving them. What is even more amazing is if you can make it inside one or more of them. Often the insides are even better than the outsides. The Heritage Hill Tour every spring is great time to do this. I worked several tours and was always astounded at the insides of the houses. I'm not sure you can find a neighborhood with such an extensive area and diverse array of architecture. Some of my favorite streets for walking are Morris, Union, College, and Madison, but don't let these keep you from exploring some of the smaller streets like Washington and Gay.

This area of Downtown Grand Rapids is very much in revival mode full swing. Lots of nice shops and restaurants. Beautiful old homes in various stages of renovation.

It has that historic feel and look that most old style, Frank Right Lloyd style can showcase for a small area of the city proper. It is quite interesting and refreshing to look at the change in style and time and the upkeep and renovations are seen everywhere. A nice drive-by in a nice area if weather is permitting.

This area isn't really much to look at. There are still some beautiful houses, but it is largely full of moderately-maintained rental houses for college students. If you're in the area and want to drive by, it might be worth a few minutes, but otherwise don't bother.

We wanted to drive by the Frank Lloyd Wright house, but we ended up being way more interested in the rest of the neighborhood! Definitely a neat group of houses to see. Having lived in New England (old and charming) and Chicago (lots of famous architecture), I still found this neighborhood worth a look.

A group of late nineteenth and early 20th century houses. Some had been converted into apartments, but many are historically restored. The area includes some more modern, non-historic properties. It is worth a look, if you are interested in housing of this period.

The old Heritage Hill neighborhood of Grand Rapids has the most amazing restored homes to be found in the country. From the mid to late 1800's, into the early 20th Century. You can see the old homes of wealthy city families, two Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired and designed homes, and even a home belonging the family of Gerald R. Ford. Many of the beautiful homes are open and viewable to the public during May. Well worth the visit!
