burt lake state park

We have visited Spring, Summer and Fall. A great shallow lake for safe fun with young children. A great place for everyone in the family. Fishing, kayaking and great picnic and camping too. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets and take lots of pictures.

We came by boat while on a river trip and decided to anchor at the Burt Lake State Park. Beautiful clear water, sandy bottom and very few rocks. Another bonus in coming by water...no pass or fees required!

Since discovering this park, beach four years ago, I have come back each year. I do not camp in the park, but the campground is tree-filled, clean and very close access to the state park beach. The boat launch is about a city block from the camping area, right in the park. The beach is a short walk across the grass, has a day-use bathroom building. Swimming area is marked by many buoys, sandy bottom with a few small smooth stones. Lots of boats merely drive their boats next to the buoyed area and boaters swim/cookout/party right off the boat on the sand bar. Lots of tubing, no loud drunken parties here.. Many tubers rent tubes from a local company located almost right across the road from park entrance, tube downriver (sturgeon River) between Burt and Mullet Lake. Beach is raked every morning, view of most of this large lake are visible right from the beach.Situated right on Straits Highway in Indian River, Michigan. Horseshoe pits, volleyball net on beach..Campground has store too.

We camped here for 3 nights. Spaces were wide and nice access to the beach for kayaking/swimming (although a bit shallow). Within a mile of a bike path that runs 62 miles. Will be back for sure.

The campsite is pleasantly situated amongst pine trees, although a little busy at night.The best thing is the location facing west over the lake, with a lovely little beach, and plenty of open grassy spaces. The beach is perfect for small children with a wide, safe swimming area that is thigh deep out to about 150 metres. There is also a little beach shop. Good clean restroom facilities. Overall this is one of my favorite camp sites northern usa

Our family has camped here for years. The view of Burt Lake from the park (at the southern tip of the lake) is so beautiful and soothing. The boat launch can get crowded and full fast. Beach with store, bathrooms, volleyball net, horseshoe pits. There is one 'modern' nice bath house; the others are very dated (like 1960's) and in need of upgrading. A few sites are in a flood zone, but most are grassy or dirt with plenty of shade. Can ride bikes from park into town.

It is located on the shores of beautiful Burt Lake. It has over 300 sites. It is very clean and kid/pet friendly.

Love the quiet,even with lots of people there. Bathrooms near beach, swimming buoys to tie rafts to, long sandbar and beautiful views!
