Great little wildlife area and well worth the drive if you're staying in Bay City. We went for a lovely evening walk watching the sunset, lots of wildlife - insects, fish, birds and flowers. Beautiful area. Looks like you can walk pretty far down however the main footpath does seem to stop mid way to the lake. Take your fishing rod and your camera.

Quanicassee in just east of Bay City. the wildlife area spreads for many miles. This looks like it would be good for duck hunting. I used to go to this area annually as a spot for shore perch fishing. I suspect that this was based on my dad's memory more than current reality. I believe that a small boat would be required to get out into the bay. This is a very low level area, with many channels cut to allow shallow water to escape the nearby farm lands. The unique aspect is that these canals fill with carp in the spring. Many people go to these canals for archery taking of the carp as they spawn. That is not exactly my thing - but I understand it is for some. If you are into springtime archery for these fish - this is the spot. There are likely thousand there into the early part of summer.
