Great place to visit. They even have President Lincoln's hearse on display. The admission price was $4.95 and worth every penny. Upon arrival you grab a pair of 3D glasses and can watch several documentary films. They also have pictures hanging for you to view with the glasses.

This is a wonderful place to learn about the history of Gettysburg. The workers there were very pleasant and helpful during the snow storm. I would highly recommend a visit to this center.

I always made sure to visit this museum whenever I was in Gettysburg before. The wax museum was cool, and the gift shop was as good as it gets in terms of quanity and price. The gift shop is still great, and the museum transition from scenes depicting the events before and during the Civil War to a focused view of the town of Gettysburg is stirring. Other citiess that had large battles during the civil war don't pay near attention as to what the town went through during the Civil War as Gettysburg does, and this museum does an excellent job of showing hos things were before, during and after the battle. Check out the stuff outside the museum, too, such as the "grave" of Wesley Culp, the local who moved South and lost his life fighting for the Confederacy during the battle, probably on land belonging to family. This museum is often free during the offseason.

We had not planned on stopping here but our tour of the battlefield was cancelled because of snow. They were open and it was a great experience! Glad we were able to spend time there. Friendly service.

I cannot say how many times I have been here. I can tell you the customer service skills are up your alley of 100%

I highly recommend a visit to the Heritage Center for anyone coming into Gettysburg or even for those who live here. I have lived in Gettysburg for 12 years and have driven past the center thousands of times, but never went in. My son and I went in last friday and got a tour. It was fabulous. The inside is was beautiful, the layout was great, but the information was amazing. The center focuses on the citizens of Gettysburg after the war and what happened to them and the town. There were video presentations, some in 3D which my son loved, great replicas of the town itself along with real artifacts. The information on the walls and the videos were great and kept my sons attention throughout. I highly recommend the Heritage Center for all ages. There is so much to do and see.

As a local, we highly recommend visiting the Heritage Center for its updated experience. Where the Visitor Center focuses on the Soldiers of the Civil War, the Heritage Center speaks about the residents of the town of Gettysburg. Best gift shop, too, and much cheaper than the Visitors Center. Rent the Ipad tour of the Battlefield while you are there.

I took advantage of a free admission day for Adams Countians. I thought the center was very interesting coming from the town's point of view. I liked the 3D pictures and video (glasses provided). Tidbits of information were interesting and easily read. The center was spacious. The artifacts were nice. The show was updated and had nice graphics showing where the fights were each day (reminiscent of the Electric Map lights). It not only showed the 3 day battle but also the horrible aftermath of the battle in the town. Can you imagine seeing all those soldiers' bodies and dead horses? And the stench in the hot summer? I highly recommend the Gettysburg Heritage Center!

Since I had very good memories of the old Wax Museum, I was a bit leery of this new museum that has taken its place. I was very pleasantly surprised. This museum is well laid out, with impressive replica facades of some well-known buildings from around Gettysburg. Extremely well-produced video presentations brought the battle experience to life. Particularly impressive is the emphasis on the first-hand narratives of the local citizens who suddenly found themselves in the middle of America's largest battle. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed my visit.

This diorama in the Heritage center is a free gem which you can see at anytime in your visit to give you an overview of the entire battle. The set-up was so life like that I thought part of the diorama were actually people watching it.

We visited the Heritage Center this past Friday, December 5th. I should note that the admission was free due to the renovations the building is currently undergoing. Inside, it looks very open & clean despite the construction. The front desk staff was very helpful & gave us a full update on the changes they're making. I was very impressed by their professionalism and passion on the subject of Gettysburg, the battle, and the citizens of the town. They went to careful lengths to keep the new displays authentic. One of the newer buildings was made with restored wood from a barn in Gettysburg. An original carriage was kept from the former wax museum. This new section includes a hands on area for children complete with 3D glasses to engage them, and it will also include pieces from the battle for children and adults to pick up, hold, and get a feel for. There were also several interesting media exhibits. One of Lincoln's original hearses is also for display. At the end of the tour, we watched the short movie in the theater which sums up the 3 days' battle & all that happened. It's very good if you aren't familiar with Gettysburg.Finally, we ended in the gift shop which was wonderful for all ages. Obviously, it is a little more expensive, but there's a variety of toys and costumes for children, and a nice book section for adults. We laughed when we saw the General Lee & General Grant bobble heads. ha... like I said, something for everyone! Overall, I'd highly recommend if you have children, are unfamiliar with the battle of Gettysburg, or want a new perspective of the battle from the people in town. I'm excited to see how the Heritage Center looks when it's completely finished.

The new Gettysburg Heritage Center offers an exciting new experience for visitors. The use of 3D photos and themed realistic.scenes makes for an informative and entertaining visit,,focusing on Gettysburg before, during, and after the battle. Even better is the preservation of the iconic final wax figure battle theater scene - with a new well-done Gettysburg movie - from its old days as the National Civil War Wax Museum. Definitely worth a visit!

The Gettysburg Heritage Center is the former Wax Museum, the museum has being renovated and now focuses on the town as the primary source with the battle as the backdrop. There is a very good film on the battle as well as some other interactive media exhibits, some of them in 3D. They have the actual hearse that transported President Lincoln's Body throughout Washington. The museum is still under going renovations so there is no fee for the time being. They also have a museum store with books and other articles that pertain to the Civil War. They Museum also host's special events. I was pleasantly surprised by the changes from the old and tired Wax museum. I recommend this as a stop when visiting Gettysburg.

This Center provides a somewhat different perspective than the Military Park, although the story told is much the same. Here, one sees photos in 3D and learns of the experiences of the townspeople. Horrendous! The Center was not officially open, so not all the exhibits were complete or installed. The selection of books, especially for research -- or if you know of a particular regiment you want to research -- was very good. Worth a visit.
