Renfrew is a wonderful place to take the family for a quick nature walk. Unfortunately, the township recently had to cut down part of the tree-line along the left bank of the stream, but it's still a nice, quiet setting, and there is a replanting process underway. As a child, I came here with my elementary school and took part in very hands-on workshops where instructors undertook the personalities of colonial men and women. I never had a dull trip! Living so close by, I would come on Saturdays and wade through the water, catch crayfish (and release them), study aquatic macro-invertebrates under rocks, and plunge from a swing hanging from a tree into the water. As an adult, I still enjoy dipping my toes in the water and taking in the beautiful surroundings that Renfrew has to offer. The historic homes are well-maintained, and tours are very personal. The information center provides free handouts about not only Renfrew, but other local historic sites. You won't have a bad experience here.

Country setting - Gental stream - Historic buildings - Walking trails - Pic-nic area with grills. Markers along trails to highlight items of intrest.

Natural and well maintained park with walking trails through the woods and spots to wade in the creek. The German Four Square garden is a treat to explore. Events and programs at Renfrew are very nice quality. Keep in mind, that dogs must be "registered" with Renfrew.

We arrived to late to see the museum, but certainly enjoyed walking the grounds! The trails are well marked and easy to follow. The brook would be nice for fishing. It is a 'catch and release' site. You also have to fly fish there. I understand the museum is nice, but will have to see it another time.

Renfrew is the jewel in the crown for small town Waynesboro, Pa. It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful it is and how well preserved the house is. Tons of history and artifacts, and walking trails. The Renfrew Institute provides lots of educational treats for the whole family and the picnic area on the Antietam treat has been our favorite spot for years. My children grew up going to Renfrew and when they come "home" they always make a stop there.

Please come to walk the grounds, take a tour of the Museum, visit the barn and see incredible John Bell pottery collection and many other exhibits. It's a gift!

I visited here in October, taken here by local friends, and was truly surprised at the richness of this facility from a variety of perspectives. First, the Museumouse is lovingly preserved, with some priceless artifacts, including the Chinese porcelain, artwork, furniture and furnishings. The exhibitions are explained well in pamphlets, with highlights for me the 18th and 19th century kitchen implements, the dining room with its large collection of Chinese porcelain and the Jacob Wolf clocks. I did not have time to explore everything carefully, so I expect to come back. The activities at the Museum and Park provide great fun for locals and visitors, including the Pumpkin Fling in October, where visitors can fling pumpkins via a catapult. Talk about exhilarating fun for kids and adults alike. A great stress buster. The Christmas exhibition in early December provides decorations, caroling and a play. There are other activities throughout the year.Local volunteers are still sorting through artifacts collected from the community, so this is truly a living museum of the unique culture of this region, one of America's oldest.
