The mall has been the seen of shootings and gang fights, plus half the stores are closed and the place is pretty empty, not much on shopping anymore.

We have come to Monroeville Mall for many years, we have children and therefore use the restrooms often, parents will understand what I mean, the ceilings have crud and dust all over. YIKES!!! Bleach and Lysol work wonders!!! This mall used to be Fantastic but unfortunately over the years it has taken a nose dive!!! Macy's keeps the restrooms in their store clean, that makes me question the staff who run the mall/cleaning crew. They have added a new addition and some nice stores but then we have CRAZY FIGHTS in the mall!! Can I ask why we have a bus line if we can't control the crowds??? I'm sorry to say we will not be back until they can fix these problems..........

I visited the mall with my daughters for some Christmas shopping. I've never been to this mall before and really enjoyed it. There is a wide variety of stores, much more than I have in my area. I would return given the chance !

This was a girls weekend shopping trip. Found mall confusing to get into but was nice once there. This mall seemed same as most other shopping malls in the area. We didn't find as many deals as we did in the outdoor store locations.

Love the atmosphere and variety of stores! I grew up shopping here and stopped by with my husband and kids on our last trip to Pittsburgh. I had not been here since 2004 and some stores were definitely different, but the overall look of the mall was the same bringing back lots of good memories.

Great location and had all the brands we were looking for, and enjoyed the outdoor style of this mall!

This mall used to have a pretty rough crowd and a lot of vacant stores. With the addition of the theather and some renovated and new stores, it's really starting to become a desirable destination again!

After being THEE mall for years and then fallen into disrepair, this Mall has being making a comeback to being a decent mall with decent stores.

To start off on a fair note, we currently live 5 minutes away from the Monroeville Mall, so our drive is minimal. We got there about twice a month, usually to walk around, get dinner, and catch a movie. Stores- Very standard as far as mall stores go: mix of department stores (JC Penny's and Macy's), Bath an Body Works, tons of clothing stores (in my opinion more suited for female shoppers, the new Forever 21 is the biggest non-department store in the mall, nothing comparable for male shoppers), five or six different shoe stores, some fancy gift stores where you're afraid to look at anything, two electronic entertainment stores, and others that I cannot recall at the moment. There is an Ulta, Barnes and Noble, and Dick's Sporting Goods that are outside of the mall. A Best Buy is across the parking lot from Dick's, as well as a small strip of stores along the backside of the mall as well.Service- This is a general statement, but I've never been overly impressed with the service from any store. A few stores have been much better than some, but a lot of younger store clerks who are less than passionate about helping the customers. No one has ever been downright rude, but several have been not helpful at all.Movie Theater- Pretty nice, large screens, comfortable seats, generally well kept. Nice place to see a flick. Will run about $18.50 for two adults for a weekend evening film, which is pretty standard.Dining Options- The food court inside the mall has the standard food court offerings, a few Asian themed places, Sbarros, Burger place, Tex-Mex. Had Sbarros once, it was pretty good. There are also four full restaurants along the outside of the mall. Saga (sushi place, half price on Mondays!), Red Robin (our go-to, great service, especially Tom the weekend bar tender), Monterey Bay Fish Grotto (a bit out of place in Monroeville if you ask me), and Winghardts (bar and grill, service was slow and our waiter was a bit of a dick). The variety is there, which is nice, but we always gravitate to Red Robin. Yum.Overall, Monroeville Mall is fine. Like mentioned, we are only 5 minutes away, so it's not a commitment for us to go at all. Would not mark it down as a destination mall, but if you find yourself in the area and in need of a mall, it will do. Movie Theater is nice, never anything but a good experience there.

George Romero’s (1978) Dawn of the Dead movie was filmed here, and this was the only reason for my visit. I was curious to see what the area and the mall looked like today, and to see if I could find some specific filming locations in the mall. I was surprised to see how big this mall is, being one of the first malls to open in North America. Looks like JC Penney has changed quite a bit since the movie. There is no longer an escalator within the store, and it JCP is limited to the upper floor. I saw the “Flyboy” elevator, but it is now restricted to employee use. Apparently when they recently replaced the elevator, they found dried fake blood within the old elevator doors from the DOTD filming days. I was told these doors are to be put on display at the Evans City Living Dead Museum, north of Pittsburgh. Anyways, I think I found the entrance where the motorcycle gang enters the mall; and the utility hall where the survivors entered the mall from their hiding space. The skating rink in the centre area is now a food court. Amazingly, there were no copies of Romero’s DOTD at the FYE store within the mall. While big in size, the mall is not much of a shopping destination. There are few stores of interest when compared to outlet malls. Even the Macy’s was disappointing. However, for horror movie and Romero fans like myself, it makes for a fun side trip out of the Pittsburgh area. I think a big part of the fun is discovering the filming locations inside the mall, and to see how the area has changed since the movie was shot.Be careful when shopping at Monroeville Mall.....it just might cost you an arm and a leg ;)

I'm really not sure why the mall looks the way it does now but it's not the best atmosphere for a good shopping experience or even to go to eat. The food court bathrooms are pretty bad. You will be lucky to find anybody that is working in the stores with a smiling face. It's kind of sad to see because it used to be a great place to go.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will have it looked into.

Years ago this was a bustling mall. I haven't been there for a few years but went to christmas shop this past December. I was shocked. This Is turning into a ghetto mall. Lots of empty stores. I was scared to go from the mall to my car! There was a gang of kids lurking near the entrance. I'll drive a little further to feel safe. Stay away from this place.
