I've been here about 5-6 times for birthday parties for my 2 daughters. It's inexpensive and the rental skates are fantastic. They're much newer and better than my own skates. Both of my daughter's love it there. At first, my 7-year-old couldn't skate, but after using the PVC skating aid for the first 2 times, she got much better. The employees are ridiculously nice. I asked the rental girl there about my 11-year-old daughter's skates, and she immediately knew that she wore a size 4 by looking at the size of her forearm(!) Then, she spent about 5 minutes with me explaining the different kinds of wheels and demonstrated the advantages of different kinds. She never tried to promote the skates they sell there, but she advised me to either rent or buy better skates for her since her wheels were plastic, which we did for Christmas. At the rink, they change skating direction here and there and have backwards skate and also have a bucket race, which I love to do with my younger daughter. The food is terrible, but now I know to bring my own snacks. I don't agree with review about the girls in referee shirts saying they do nothing. They keep everybody moving the correct direction, which is huge. We went roller skating at Murrysville Sports Zone and there are no employees out on the rink. All these young girls were skating the wrong direction the entire time and I almost killed a few of them.

My daughter got invited to an autism night at the skating rink last winter. They way we were treated and greeted was so wonderful. My kids have never skated before. We got a lot of free benefits that night. The kids had a lot of fun. The music wasn't loud and the lights were on, which made it great for the kids. I can't speak on regular nights that the people have described, but the owners are very nice and try to make the special events really special. Perfect for small groups, birthdays, etc.

The good- the kids had a lot of fun, the music was appropriate even for the young ones, plenty of seating for the parents, decent food (for a skating rink). I really liked the "walker" looking contraptions they had for beginner skaters to use. Although it was extremely difficult to get one to use. It seemed like they were being hoarded by certain families. The bad- i feared for the safety of my then 6 year old daughter with the teenagers and even some adults zooming around the rink at breakneck speeds. There seemed to be little attention given to the actual skaters, even though there were 5 birthday parties being held that evening- all with very young children present. I refused to allow our 3 year old to go out.The ugly- the outside and inside of the rink are not much to look at. The rink itself is in need of some repair. I noticed icicles hanging from the ceiling in a few spots and the flooring of the rink was uneven and bumpy, but none of that seemed to deter the kids from having their fun.All in all, it was a fun time. If she's invited to another birthday party, we'll go, but i won't be scheduling one of my own there.

I understand that skate rinks of all kinds are always a little risky but it should not be complete anarchy on the floor. This place allows the smallest of inexperienced children on roller skates to adults that are clearly above recreational skills on roller blades on the floor at the same time. I witnessed more than 1 child being knocked to the floor by adults skating entirely too fast for the conditions. I had to block a teenage girl skating on the outside path of the rink like it was a race track from running a little girl over. They had teenage girls with referee shirts and whistles on the floor but they did little more than skate around and look bored. Needless to say I will not be going back to this rink.
