Stopped here on a Friday afternoon at a time when they were not busy and no events were scheduled. We had the nicest tasting experience! The young women at the counter were knowledgeable and delightful. They did not hurry us and we had a good time tasting, chatting, and laughing. The wine selection was excellent and the most difficult part of the visit was deciding which of them to take home with us. The gift shop was nicely appointment for Christmas. We will definitely be back and look forward to spring and the ability to enjoy a bottle of wine and snack outside!

As a local and a LGBT advocate I can attest that this winery is not anti--LGBT and as a wine-lover, the wines are good! It's a beautiful setting with a friendly staff. Great space for a barn-wedding too. Keep this on your list to visit when at Nemacolin Woodlands, Ohiopyle, Fallingwater, and the Uniontown area.

My husband and I bought a Groupon for the hayride and wine tasting. We didn't know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. It was a chilly afternoon and they provided blankets for the hayride. The gentleman that gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and passionate about the vineyards. He explained how he takes care of the vineyard and how he makes and bottles the wine. The wines were great and everyone was very nice! It was a great time!

We went on the hayride and wine tasting Groupon deal. After reading previous comments from other reviewers I was a bit hesitant but it turned out to be a very nice experience. At the vineyard there is a retail store where you go first to check in and register for the hayride from the Groupon, Around the scheduled time everyone boards the tractor-pulled wagon and is given an introduction by the driver who (at least for this tour) is the man who takes care of the grape fields and also knows everything about the day to day operation of the vineyard. The hayride part takes you to the top of the hill where the grapes are grown and you are given more information and details about the grapes and their care from the driver. After going back down the next portion is in area where the grapes are processed you learn more about the bottling process. After that the guests are invited to sit at rows of tables for wine tasting. There were about 8 wines tasted spanning the dry to sweet varieties in the logo glasses that are mentioned in the Groupon. When the tasting is complete we were served a light appetizer buffet of Caesar salad, a tasting sided portion of hot pepper chili and tortilla chips and salsa as well as a bite sided pita chip with apple butter. It IS what it says .. a light buffet. It is not lunch or dinner. Upon completion you have the opportunity for additional tasting in the retail store and you can taste whatever you want and buy bottles (and additional gift items) if you choose. It was everything that the Groupon mentioned and we were completely satisfied with the visit.

Unfriendly staff! Very unwilling to help with Groupon issues. Will never give them any more business!

I had purchased a groupon for a hay ride/wine tasting/appetizer buffet. The groupon said to call and make a reservation, but I had not because I was not sure how our timing would work with also having tickets to Fallingwater later that afternoon. My husband and I got to the winery around 1pm hoping to just do a tasting, buy a bottle or so, and be on our way to Fallingwater. First of all, we were not greeted upon our entrance to the tasting room. One of the women was on the phone with a customer (my husband noticed she was even being rude on the phone) and the other woman was helping another customer with a tasting. We have been to nearly 50 wineries between Pittsburgh and the Finger Lakes, and a simple smile or "hello, we'll be right with you" is all I expect from staff assisting other customers. We walked around the disorganized gift shop for 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us. I explained that I had a groupon and that I did not make a reservation because I was unsure of our timing. The one woman shoved a binder in my face with hay ride times on it and said "this is what we have today, and we have openings next weekend" I told her we had Fallingwater tickets and that we only had time for a tasting and asked if I could put the purchased groupon toward a wine purchase. She said that they couldn't do that. She obviously does not know how groupon works. The value of a groupon is always valid for the purchased amount....even after it expires. My husband was ready to walk out at this point, but I thought maybe their wines would be worth the stay. Meh. Nothing special. And the woman doing our tasting hardly said a word. During the tasting, a hay ride had returned to the tasting room for their appetizer buffet....in a storage closet! We will not be returning on our yearly trip to the area.

One of the best wineries in the area, my husband and have been coming here for a number of years. We highly recommend it.

We visited the main winery site on a rainy afternoon. The winery had an event going on out back and they seemed a bit short staffed, however, they were very friendly and helpful. Wine tasting is free and they have a decent range of wines from sweet to dry - I enjoyed the Raspberry Frost - but the wines are a bit more expensive than similar locations I have been. ($17-20 per bottle versus $12-15 at other similar wineries.)We purchsed several bottles of wine and a few other items. We had a nice time and enoyed the wines we bought once we got home.

No mystery at Christian Clay Murder Mystery, when it comes to murder mystery dinner. It pretty clear, it was awful. $40 dollars for plastic silverware, styrofoam plates and cheap wine. Please don't waste your money on this poorly pulled together attraction.

Mediocre wines. Bad service. We asked to drink outside and only got plastic glasses. The two ladies working here had no knowledge of wines. Zero. So disappointing. There are better wineries in the area. Just avoid it.

We were visiting the area and decided to go to the Murder Mystery dinner at the winery. It was held in the barn on property which was decorated for fall. The place was full with tables for six so the two of us were seated with a party of three and we enjoyed their company. The evening began with a wine tasting, actually just a tiny sipping, of eleven of their wines. We are not wine experts and the tiny tastes of the wines were fine for us. Our server was rushed and grumpy and it was too loud to hear the accompanying explanations over the loudspeaker. The self serve dinner was pretty blah--chicken, very salty ham, potato lumps from a can, peas, ziti with little taste, pumpkin cake. You just had to go with the amateur and silly murder mystery. It was more just talking than acting and inexplicably occasionally one of the character would burst into a karaoke song. They did ask for a few audience volunteers but didn't use them very well. We laughed along with everything but it did go on 20 minutes too long. No, we didn't guess the murderer. Note: there were at least 100 people at this event and only ONE bathroom.

A true winery. a very nice lady explained not only the history of the winery, but also gave us some local information concerning the area. They have a nice selection of wine and naturally we had to buy some.

We purchased a Living Social Deal for a tour of the winery and tasting. On the way I read reviews and was nervous about what I was getting into. It was a rainy day but the staff was prepared to take us out if the weather permitted. The man who led our tour was extremely knowledgeable and had worked there for years. He told his story of how the Clay family took him in and gave him an education in the wine business. He explained how they grow the grapes in the Pennsylvania climate. His grandson tagged along and was absolutely adorable. When we got back from the vineyard we were able to see some of the machinery they use to make and bottle the wine. We got to taste ten different wines and were told a lot about them. I don't think there's one question our guide could not answer. This is not a large corporate winery. There are only a few employees and it's very family oriented.

I have made a few trips to Christian Klay winery before. This one was our fourth. We were going to stop at their shop that is on Rt 40., but ended up just going to the actual winery. The person who waited on us was one who had done so before. She is very sweet and really knows her wines. This lady also is interested in your business (unlike a past experience there with other sales people). My favorite wines there are Jumonville Glen Red, Fort Necessity (dry white), Stone house red (semi-sweet) which is my favorite. This little elderly lady made our trip back to Christian Klay great. Thank you little lady!
