Washburn has needed a classy place for entertainment for a LONG time, and StageNorth really fits the bill. No dance floor, but tasty cocktails! Good sound and lighting and an intimate theatre for actors and folk artists. It might be difficult to see/hear a funk band at StageNorth if there's no place to boogie, but until the Brokedown palace reopens (remember THAT place?!), I'm sure it will be just fine. Congrats, Washburn!

There is a long narrow reception area, with bar. Nice place to gather before a show. I would avoid the balcony. The railings are low and it's scary.

One would not expect this modern bar/stage facility to be in Washburn after seeing all the historical Brownstone buildings...but it has a killer view of Chequamegon Bay from their lovely outside patio...or the second floor seating! Have taken in quite a few unique shows on our trips to the unique city...my life loves their martini!I marked FEE as sometimes they have a cover charge!...BUT WORTH IT.

Hours always change but and they like to close early but great shows and music. Hope they can keep it going.

The plays are great, the bar is stocked and the seats have cup holders! Make sure to get tickets in advance because a lot of shows sell out. There's nothing better than a Sunday matinee with all the locals congregating for drinks at intermission. Play schedules can be found online.

I have kids who don't' like theater and I live about 35 miles from Washburn, so I don't go but I know many people who do and I hear only good things from them....

I love Stagenorth! I first started going to Stagenorth this last September when my sister started going to the local college. She took me to their production of Cyrano de Bergerac and I fell in love with the place. It is so beautiful--local art featured everywhere, view of Lake Superior, attractive employees ;). Every time I visit Claire I have to go to Stagenorth at least one night that I am there. Even when they don't have anything going on, it is a great bar to hang out at!

StageNorth is absolutely awesome! I was up in Ashland (which is close to Washburn) last summer and got the chance to go here. What a great place! They have live entertainment and a great overlook of Lake Superior. The people who work there were super friendly and the whole place had small town charm. If you get a chance to go, it's worth it.
