This quarter mile drag race track has all the characteristics of a great time down to the Christmas tree lights that tells the racers when to race.You can bring your own race car here also for a run ( I would definitely call first to see what dates you can run your car and in what category as well as what safety devices you and your car needs first & how much the fee to race is).This race way has been here for quite a long time, I remember coming here in the 1980's. My buddy once in awhile brings his souped up Nova Wagon from Chicago so the ride from the city proper is about an hour or so north depending on traffic. The price for admission is worth it for about $20 or so depending on whats going on. This place is also only about a half hour north of Six Flags Gurnee IL. They have a wide variety of race events going on all summer long for all kinds of cars and bikes. Check their web sight out Greatlakesdragaway.com to see what the flavor of the day is. If you like fast fast cars and some great food this is the place to come. So you know bring some ear plugs because you will be needing them. :-) This is a drag racing facility so it is loud and there is bleachers to sit and watch the races.You can also walk around the areas where the cars are but you have to remember these are cars so be careful and respectful when walking around other peoples property.
