somerset amphitheater

The Amphitheater is a good place to see a concert and camp out. If they kept a normal schedule of bands coming through it would be great. I was there for a beer fest. They have plenty of room, it's to bad they don't use it more often or use it for people older then 25. The amphitheater usually gears their concerts towards the younger generation.

I attended a concert at Somerset Amphitheather this July for the first time in about a decade. We arrived and were literally greated by a child who told us to park "over there" and we followed the road she pointed down and wound up in the line for camping, where we then had to turn around with some difficulty to get back to the parking lot. Very poorly organized. We purchase tickets online and chose the "phone scan" option which did not work with their scanners in the bright sunlight and was told "you are supposed to print those". No, actually the ticket vendor offered either a print or a "phone" option, if it doesn't work, don't offer that option, and don't insult your customers. Again, very poorly organized, with rude staff at the gates. No re-entry was allowed, it got cold after dark and my child would have very much liked to have had a jacket or blanket from our car just a couple hundred feet from the gate, but no, not allowed. There were several bands, it was a hot day, the first band played to a completely empty venue since everyone was in the parking lot. There were food vendors but no other vendors. I remember some great concerts here in years past, the venue overflowing with happy people, fun vendors adding to the festive atmosphere. I'm not sure what has changed, but I would not go out of my way to return to this venue. If I do return I'd make a weekend out of it maybe stay at a bed and breakfast in Stillwater and enjoy the many recreational activities Somerset has to offer. We decided to go on short notice and stayed near the MSP airport, there was no lodging available near the venue on short notice.
