We love Tom's Burned Down Café! The live music is the best! So many great acts perform there! It is a must see on the Island!

Some of the reviews of "Toms" on here are bogus. Toms is amazing. There is no place like it on Earth. why have ordinary when you can have extra-weird ?! If you want the average American experience then go to Applebee's, people. You're on Madeline Island now, a world away. Toms in a few words is, eclectic, off the beaten path, euro/hippy with "up nort" charm, unique, FUN. Excellent live music every weekend, almost nightly some summer weeks, warm fire place, great friendly people and plenty of "free-love" hugs for all. If you are easily offended, judgmental, or uptight, DO NOT, I repeat, do not visit and then write a nasty review about it. It's an open-air, under-the-stars bar. Dress warm :-) they open sometime in spring and run through mid to late fall usually.

There are some uptight reviews on here. What are people expecting from a place on a small island that has burned down twice and now has a tent over the top of it. If quirky doesn't bother you and hearing live music and hanging out with locals instead of tourists sounds good to you then this is the place to go.

Hey, it's a bar and it was quirky fun. Beer was good and cold and we enjoyed reading all the crazy signs. It has a hippy feel that went well with the island, laid back feeling.

I have been to Tom's several times and can always find something new to look at. The drinks here are good and the atmosphere is like nowhere you have ever been. It may fit in at some out of the way place in Mexico, but it's in Wisconsin. I guarantee if you visit it, you will agree there is no other place like it. To call it quirky is an understatement and an insult at the same time. If you're looking for fancy or even average, you are definitely not going to find it here. It is very fun and worth a visit..............or two.

Well what to say, Tom's was different unique for sure kinda liked the whole vibe in a way had no problem getting drinks 2 beers 1 mikes . But wouldn't be a regular hangout for me just a little to out there almost a commune vibe and could see problems with drunk locales latter in a night when you are just tourists but all in all had fun for the half hour we were there.

I am not sure how this place is allowed to exist with the building codes and health codes. I was afraid to touch anything for fear of cutting myself on jagged metal signs that are affixed to every flat surface or stepping on a rusty nail sticking up in the planks that qualified for flooring. We thought about ordering a drink, but the bar tender gal looked absolutely dirty, and we could smell marijuana wafting through out the place, probably from somewhere behind the scenes. There was a scruffy dog eating some sort of garbage right in the middle of place also. We could not tell who the workers from the guests. This place resembles some sort of Hippy (not Hipster!) refuge or ultra liberal bastion, not that there is anything wrong with that, but we just did not get the "welcome to Toms burned down POS cafe" vibe from anyone.I would avoid bringing little kids anywhere near this pile of crap.

Toms burned down bar is by far the worst bar in the world. The drinks are over priced and sloppily made and beer is warm. We waited over an hour for a $15 tombstone pizza. The staff are some of the rudest people I have ever met. I can not stress enough how crappy it is. Toms is a tarp stretched over a bunch of locals smoking pot (seriously) and being rude. Stay far away.
