This place has many things to look at, touch, play with etc. I enjoy it as much as my grandchildren. We go about 3 times a year and have never not had a wonderful time

Enjoy snowshoeing, hiking and bird watching in the winter. Eagles are often seen over the river. In spring, summer or fall 1000 Island has something going on. Great for field trips or just a day out.

Not only is this an amazing hike, but it's free and you can see wildlife, woods, and water... what more could anyone want? The modest looking museum was a real bona fide treasure with bathroom facilities. You have got to check this out! Lots for the children to see too... stuffed animals, reptiles, and birds - oh my!

Came here for a Cub Scout event and was surprised at how much they have to offer. There was alot of different things to see and do. Both my husband and I made mention this was one of the nicer environmental center's in WI we have been to. The walking trails were nicely laid out and the views were nice to. This is a nice place to go with or without the kids. The picnic area was nice to. There was not a cost to go into the center. It offers alot of learning for both adults/kids. They have a parrot and some other live animals.

You can walk the outside trails thru woods and along the river and then go indoors and see up close the creatures that live in the outdoors.

My kids loved coming to the nature center. They have a huge collection of taxidermy including a polar bear, lion, birds galore. They have a talking parrot, turtles and snakes to view as well as a tarantula. There are many activities you can do here. The nature trails are a boardwalk that goes around the river. We saw deer and eagles on the walk. In the spring time it can be a bit flooded so sometimes the boardwalk is closed off.

Great place for adults or kids. Nature center with a lot of things to do. Located on the Fox River with a kayak launch, nature center, and lots of outdoor opportunities. The nature center has a lot of interesting things to see.

A delightful way to spend an afternoon. Get some fresh air with an easy and enjoyable hike through the woods along the beautiful river. So much wildlife to see.....birds of all kinds (eagles, pelicans, etc...) We've walked these trails in the spring, summer and fall - each season giving you something new to see! A great place to just sit and relax since you will find convenient benches along the way as well as time to think and get your thoughts together away from a face paced world. The kids will love discovering what nature has to offer.

1000 Islands is the land of milk and honey. Fantastic trails and scenic adventure for the whole family year round and a fantastic nature museum inside with loots of things to do for the kids. Walk the trails in the summer and show shoe them (provided) in the winter.

We visited on Sunday, July 21st only to find out the main building was closed the whole weekend due to the lack of a volunteer. Major bummer since our friends who live in the area said the collection of taxidermy they have is really cool. We did end up walking some of the trails, most of which were even stroller-friendly (one of the kids fell asleep). So we had a good time there, but would have really liked the kids to see the exhibits in the main building. I would recommend calling before you go to ensure a volunteer is present.

If you want a walk or want to learn about nature, this is a great place to go. Check their calendar on what is going on. Whether you want to watch the bald eagles, hike, snow shoe, check out the different animals in the main building, or come to reenactment days. You will not be disappointed. Great for all of the family.

I rediscovered the 1000 Islands walking trails thus summer, and now I can't stay away! I start walking near the teepee continue through a variety of trail surfaces and levels. The workout is awesome and the beauty is unmatched. I feel close to God when I'm there. The staff keeps the trails clear and well-maintained. The trails are for casual strolls as well as aerobic workouts. Just turn around and head back when you want. Thank you for this treasure!

The boardwalks here over the water is what makes this trail unique. Lots of wildlife to be seen too! You can use a stroller on the trail but you will not be able to make it too far down the trail with it, I tried-there is just no way to get a stroller through at one point in the trail. Also, if you happen to have a stroller and someone else is walking the opposite way with a stroller, it's near impossible to pass each other. Inside the nature center you will find lots and lots of taxidermy; many bears, birds, lions and more!

I live close by to 1000 islands and I always like to go here if I ever need to cool down. Completely free, great walking trails and almost every time I have been there I have seen at least one deer. They will come right by the plankboard walkways and it is something else. You are right by HWY 96 and barely out of town, but all the sounds are for the most part blocked out. I've caught some amazing photography shots here. When the river is low, one can wade out into the river and if you look in the right place, you can find very interesting rocks on the river bed. A great, relaxing place.

The main attractions here are the eagles and eagles nests. Do bring binoculars as the river is wide at this spot and while some eagles often fly close, many will be over the river. Their facebook page always has current eagle pictures. The "natural history museum" is a little gem. Many animals from around the world.
