I hadn't been to the Crown in a while. My daughter gave us a gift to use there, so what better time than NYE... especially since my job is away from home. As mentioned... I work out of town and didn't know the heat was not working. I received the message the next day. ENTRANCE: Anyhow, upon arrival that evening it was a bit confusing as to how we were supposed to line up or enter. People started packing the entryway, some thinking an area would open to get tickets "on hold/on call." Then the entrance to the theatre opened. There should be signage and instructions... or something to indicate the process. Well, got inside through the doors and was given the tickets with a voucher. No explanation. If I didn't over-hear someone else, I would not have known about the reason and the situation. At the door, I realized I left my gift tickets at home and paid for the event with my credit card (although they had the voucher number and information on the gift and could have... should have honored the voucher number... they didn't). After being seated we were told more and the waiter explained that it would get warmer. Nope... it didn't. I feel bad for the venue.FOOD: The food was good and could have been a very nice dinner, but to bad it was cold... very cold. They tried to make up for that with an extra small dessert.SERVICE: Our entire section was forgotten. Sorry Miles... you missed the mark. Drinks never arrived and I had to get my own coffee. We saw people in other sections get served, way... way before us.ENTERTAINMENT: It was OK... ehh nice, could been a little better. Was expecting more Sinatra rather than how it was done. We didn't stay for any of the after-show entertainment or festivities. It was too cold, so we left and went home.Overall, I'll give it a "3" because they are a decent entertainment venue and will chalk this up to giving the Crown the benefit of the doubt... even y=though I got sick the next day with the flu due to the facility being so cold.Well, I thought I would look up what else was going on there, because now I still have the unused vouchers from my daughter and the vouchers they gave everyone from that evening. Not much on the schedule over the next couple months. While being disappointed, my valentine said she heard on the news that the shows and activities at the Crown were being reduced. I hope this is not true and I also hope that my vouchers would still be good, especially considering my daughter, who's on the lower end of the pay bracket, purchased this as a holiday gift for me.

We chose the Crown as the venue for our anual New Years Eve party. We have a group of people who enjoy an adventure especialy if it involves dancing. We were promised an evening of good food, entertainment, and dancing ala Sinatra. We got good food.... The food was delicious, but a little cold, no surprise considering the temperature of the building. The wait staff cleared the plates by scraping the plates all onto one plate and stacking them up on the table, in front of us. Gross! The show seemed to have been written that afternoon. Although the singing was fine, the actual "show" was very poor. The set was not even completely painted. There was raw wood peeking out that could have been painted in 10 minutes with $1.00 worth of paint. Why? The heater was not working, a problem which has apparentlly been pleguing the theater for over a month, but they don't seem to mind continuing to charge people to sit through a subpar performance at 50 degrees. Dancing? The show was over at 10:00, it seemed they asked the band to stay and play for 2 more hours. The band only had 30 minutes woth of music. They filled in with someones ipod mix of NOT Sinatra. We had a good time, only because we refusde to have a bad time. Did anyone think this evening through???? Very poorly planned and excuted event!!!

A group of 25 people and I had a terrible experience. We attended a plated luncheon on 12/9/2014, it was a full house of pre-purchased tickets. When we arrived shortly after 11:30, there were people seated at our reserved tables. The place was freezing and come to find out, the heater had been broke for 3 days. No toilet paper in the bathrooms. The seating was so tight you couldn't move your chairs. From 11:30-1:15 we waited for our plated food. When we were finally served, only half the table got their food....but the food was cold and a very small portion. My own plate came out once the lights were off and I couldn't see what I was forking at. Drinks were never refilled. Dessert was hard. I do feel sorry for the wait staff b/c they were overwhelmed I'm sure. Once the show started, there were Crown Uptown commercials in-between songs...one about their catering service. The singing was decent but the production as a whole was cheaply done and at a high school level. At the end of the show, the crowd heckled the show host. At this point, it was very embarrassing. That was my first visit and probably my last. Not worth the money.

My company "treated" 20+ prospects to a pre-purchased afternoon show and plated lunch at The Crown Uptown on 12/9/14. Our experience was far less than a treat and much more of a hassle and headache. The primary population of those in attendance at this particular event were older. The Crown had obviously oversold this event as we were literally packed in like sardines which made seating and mobility VERY uncomfortable and unsafe. Once we arrived at our reserved location of 3 tables, we found that there were already 5 individuals in our seats, which made finding additional seats very difficult in the already packed house. Furthermore, we learned that the heating had been broken for 2-3 days, so it was freezing on this 30 degree day!! Finally, our plated lunch that was to begin at noon, arrived at 1:15pm and once it arrived, it was lukewarm and parts were cold. Word was that they had run out- how do you run out when you have a pre-sold show??!! Getting a drink or refill was near impossible as we were told they had to start at one end of the room and work their way to us. I personally received my drink order 1 hour after it was requested and that was literally 3 reminders later. They kept running out of coffee and when it was received, it was lukewarm. The show was very low budget. Finally, at the end, the MC openly recognized that they had had a "couple of problems" but certainly downplayed the importance and when the crowd responded unfavorably, she (the MC) was snarky and sarcastic. I've been to The Crown Uptown 2 other times over the last 7 yeas and enjoyed myself. However, this was the first time in the last 3 years and I can promise it will be my last and I can confidently say the same for our 24 guests. In my opinion, The Crown Uptown did a complete disservice to not only our company and the others in attendence, but there's as well.

Saw Rocky Horror stage show here. Food was decent. Got to select from 3 main dishes, meatloaf, fish or chicken. The wait for the food was a little long but not too bad. We ordered dessert (which was extra) after the meal and did not get it until intermission. The wait staff could of told us that instead of making us wonder, not a deal breaker though. The show was great and the sound was good. Drinks and coffee are extra. After purchasing 2 tickets with meal, one dessert, 2 coffees and one mixed drink and tip, we were a little over a $100....not bad for a night on the town.

I just experience a piece of Wichita's history. The Crown Uptown Theatre is a great place for dinner and theatre experience. Last night I saw the Rocky Horror Show. The food was good, the drinks strong, and the show was wonderful. I strongly suggest that you take a few moments out of your busy schedule and experience some of Wichita's best performers.

The arrangements of the songs for "Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein" left something to be desired. Much of the magic of Rodgers and Hammerstein's music was gone. :-( Food was excellent although it was puzzling that they charged $2 extra for coffee while tea and water were free. Also the square piece of frosted white sheet cake seemed overpriced at $6.

We always have a good time when we attend one of their productions...has been a while since we've made it but I do keep up on what they have playing. Haven't been since changed to plated dinners so am anxious to try that out !

We have been here numerous times over the past 20 years Tonight was the best food experience and Godspell was outstanding. They have changed from a buffet to plated dinners. What an improvement! Highly recommend for both food and show.

Very interactive with the crowd but not to the embarrassing point. Did not have the food. The show was funny.

I did have a fun time, however, we went to see White Christmas and it was hard to watch and listen to actors that just weren't Bing Crosby and Danny Kay. The play is also different from the movie which is a favorite of ours. But the acting and singing were well done. As far was the venue, food and service; here are some helpful hints to make your night a success. Make sure you get a booth, your view will be blocked if not. If your looking for an excellent meal go out first. If IHOP is your favorite restaurant then the food is fine. The bar and wine choices are also lacking in quality. The venue itself is amazing! I loved the decor. Will we return? Yes! I'm interested in watching well known musicals as I said it was fun!

Haven't got to the performance yet but have been here a few times the show is always good... But the food is horribly disappointing the portions are small, bland, and look like the "chef" just threw them on a plate. Their website had built him up to be this awesome culinary expert who makes delicious food. He didn't deliver at all and someone should tell him for the prices we pay it would be nice if he actually put his culinary experience to use because my 11 year old cooks better food than the crap we were served.

We decided to give this a go after several years. We had heard great things and were looking forward to a nice night out.The night started badly with terrible service and seating arrangements. The menu was supposed to be based on the play, seasonal items and fine dining. Overall it was simply not good, dry and tasteless. The dinner service is from 5:00 to 6:30 with the show starting at 7:30. The environment isn't one that lends itself to a long leisurely dinner unfortunately. We would recommend making other arrangements for dinner so your night starts out on the right note. The show itself started promptly at 7:30 and was quite good.We may come again for the show only.

When I first moved here a few years back, this was a bit cheesy. Not anymore. New owners came in and have really made a difference. First-rate actors, good food and good service. It makes for an excellent night on the town.
