Much of the museum is centered around the oil industry in Butler County, so if you have an interest in the oil patch you will find this museum of interest. There are other display's and they work hard to get traveling exhibits.

We were headed home from a short vacation and decided to explore El Dorado a bit. We really wanted to see this museum but, alas, it was closed. There is quite a bit of oil history equipment on the property and some buildings depicting a bygone era. The city park next to the parking lot is a beautiful setting with geese, ducks, and a little bridge. Will definitely stop intentionally next time we pass by El Dorado, to see this museum.

If you are into history of oil fields, etc, this a good local museum that explains the process of pumping oil and has many display items, both inside and out. Staff very nice and happy to answer questions. Adjacent to museum is a nice city park with ducks and geese to feed. Across the street: small town movie theatre with $5 admission. Make an afternoon of it if passing through this historic town.

This small museum in El Dorado has a wealth of information and artifacts focused on the boom in the Kansas oil industry. The indoor exhibits are very informative. On the grounds are many items of real oilfield equipment including an excellent cable tool drilling rig which you cannot see in many places. The museum has also moved in a number of small buildings associated with the boom days, and these are well-furnished. It's a great place to visit.
