Owners are a young couple and this is a fairly new Winery. They are adding new wines all the time. It's in the basement of their house and the owners are very welcoming. We always try to stop by when we are in their area.

Recently I found myself "Back Home Again in Indiana." While enjoying a leisurely drive on SR 135, I saw a sign with a name that beckoned to me to stop by and investigate. "The Grateful Goat winery" is one of those delightful diversions not on the original itinerary, but proved to be a reflective rest stop along the way. Samples of the various wines are available, so you can try before you buy. The Grateful Goat winery is off the state highway and the county road, but well worth a few minutes to enjoy a pleasant drive to this Indiana oasis of fruitful felicity. The wine is delectable and the people cordial. Whether you are a wine neophyte or connoisseur, you will enjoy the Grateful Goat.

The owners and staff are the nicest people and treat me as if we have been long time friends! The experience reminds me of stopping over to a friends house to sip a glass and catch up! Beautiful grounds as well.

Grateful Goat is not too far from our house, and it is a gem! The owners are very friendly and, while the tasting room is smallish, you get plenty of attention. When weather is nicer they have live music on the weekends, so you can enjoy some wine and listen to local musicians. The wines themselves range from sweet fruit wines to impressively dry reds. If you are in the area be sure to stop in, if you are not in the area, this is worth the trip!

Dawn, thank you for posting a review, and thank you for helping me to understand that as an owner of Grateful Goat, I have the ability on TripAdivsor to respond to reviews. We actually do offer many dry and semi-dry wines, and they have been on our wine list for some time. I am not sure if they were not offered to you as I was not the server conducting your tasting. I wanted to list them below along with their specifications and medals they have won in the largest International Wine Competitions available to enter for commercial wineries. Our dry offerings are listed here along with awards received.Hoosier Red - Semi-Dry Chambourcin (1% Residual Sugar) - GOLD at Finger Lakes International Wine Competition / SILVER at International Eastern Wine CompetitionFarmhouse - Dry Traminette (0% Residual Sugar) - BRONZE at Indy International Wine Competition, Bronze at Finger Lakes International Wine CompetitionWhite Rabbit - Semi-Dry Chardonel (0.25% Residual Sugar) - BRONZE at Finger Lakes International Wine CompetitionLazy Daze - Semi-Dry Marechal Foch (0.25% Residual Sugar) - SILVER at Indy International Wine CompetitionWe also offer a Semi-Dry Vidal Blanc called Gold of Sunshine, a Dry Shiraz called Fireflower and a Semi-Dry Gewurtztraminer called Rustic White. We also have won many International Awards for our sweet wines.Uncle John's - Sweet Concord - Gold at Indy International Wine Competition / Silver at Finger Lakes International Wine CompetitionHarvest Moon - Semi-Sweet Apple - Bronze at International Eastern Wine CompetitionPure Goodness - Sweet Steuben - Bronze at Finger Lakes International Wine CompetitionVI-Agara - Semi-Sweet Vidal/Niagara blend - Silver at International Eastern Wine Competition / Bronze at Finger Lakes International Wine CompetitionStrawberry Fields - Sweet Strawberry - Bronze at International Eastern Wine CompetitionBellbottom Blues - Semi-Sweet Blueberry - DOUBLE GOLD at Finger Lakes International Wine Competition / Silver at International Eastern Wine Competition. We also offer a few other wines including a dry Concord (of which we are sold out), a semi-sweet Gewurtztraminer (which we are sold out of), and a full line of wine cocktails.I am sure there are some awards I am missing from the list above, but I wanted to show that our wines have done very well in the largest International Wine Competitions available for Commercial Wineries to compete. Our wines stand with the best in the world! Dawn, thank you again for your comment, and for showing me I had the opportunity to respond. If you are back in the area, please ask for me by name at the winery so that I may come down and conduct your tasting properly. I would love to ensure that our dry offerings are poured for you so that you can taste and enjoy them.

Met John at the Eikosi Wine Festival and HAD to stop by the winery. It's a great little place, took a tour of the winery and bought several wines which are excellent! I will be returning to buy more, especially when they have the blackberry wine and the strawberry wine. The sign at the turnoff is a little one so look carefully for it and don't miss this place! Will be going back in 2013 for more!

Very enjoyable winery and vineyard in the country...and you can even pet the goats. John and Lindsay makes you visit like visiting friends. Wide variety of wines to satisfy everyone's taste. Entertainment can add several hours to your visit, so open a bottle of wine and have a cheese plate and enjoy your afternoon.
