We went to Martinsville Candy Kitchen on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. It was so interesting to watch as they made candy canes. Many people stood at the window to watch the owner pull the canes. He gave a narrative of the history of the store as he worked. Santa Claus was also there for the kids. This was a fun outing, close to home and easy to support a local business.

This place is amazing. I love the hand dipped ice cream in a variety of flavors, my nephew loves the Oreo cookie icecream sandwiches and my honey loves the shakes. I recently picked up a mixed box of candies (truffles/caramels) for my grandmother and she loved them. You can't go wrong stopping in!

The Candy Kitchen has been a staple of Martinsville for generations. They have shipped their hand-made candy cane creations world-wide. The candy, malts, and shakes are top notch. I enjoy their sugar-free offerings. My only wish is that they had good air-conditioning.

The history of this little candy shop (complete with ice cream and soda fountain) goes back to 1919. The "old" candy recipes and atmosphere are just part of its charm. The real "Sweetness" is the family that owns and operates the business. Friendly smiles, a sample here and there and chocolates... whats not to love?Highly recommend you visit around Christmas and watch them make the home made candy canes.. but anytime is the right time for their delicious confections!
