We got to the stable late, just intending to look around to come back maybe the next day. However, when we got there they said it was no problem to take us out. My husband and I ended up being the only two riders besides the guide. The horses were very well-mannered, but not deadheads. They went along at a good pace and seemed very well taken care of. The guide was great and pointed out different plants/flowers/trees, etc., and talked about the history of the area. You cross a small stream twice, and because of the size of the rocks in the water I was a little apprehensive that the horses would slip or trip, but they did great. I'm an experienced rider, but only comfortable on MY horse so I told them I wanted something "kid-broke". My horse was a sweetheart. The guide and the owner both chatted with us for a bit after the ride and, since I'm a photographer, they also both gave us some great tips on where to get some nice photos. I think you'd like riding here whether you were a beginner or experienced. We stayed mostly in the woods and even though we went on a day with perfect weather, I imagine it'd be pretty comfortable on hotter days, too. Very nice.

This is a must visit. The owner was very personable, the horses were fun. I was able to see 2 states when we reached the top of the mountain.

Smokemont Riding Stables is a must do when visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.The Guides and staff are awesome, and the horses are perfectly matched. Of course riding in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is stunning. This is a must do when in the area!! Highly Recommend!

This was me and my boyfriend's first time riding a horse! When we called for reservations, the guy was extremely nice and gave us perfect directions! When we got there, they were even nicer!! They explained everything to us with this being both of our first times and helped us on the horses. We did the 1 hr ride and it was excellent. Our guide was very nice and talked to us the entire time. He took our phones and took pics of us and he was just the best! After our ride, the guy sitting in the booth where you check in was talking to us and gave us a map and told us good places to eat. He also told us some great places to go while we were in the National Park! I loved this place and I would recommend everyone to come here!!

My husband and I rode on his birthday 10/27/14. Cody was our guide and he did a great job. The ride was the best we have ever been on and the people couldn't have been nicer. We will definitely ride here again when we visit the area.

I surprised - sort of - my wife with her first horse back ride on a beautiful fall Sat morning. We did the 2 1/2 hour waterfall ride, our guide was Cody and our horses were Gus and Buster. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Cody made the ride interesting pointing our things along the way and the scenery was incredible. Thanks for a great time.

My husband went on the 2 1/2 trail ride and absolutely loved it despite the cloudy day........... highly recommended.

My boyfriend had never been on a horse before, so he was not very enthusiastic about the idea of going horseback riding (I myself had not been on a horse since I was 10 or 12). I convinced him to try the hour-long ride, and we both loved it. Our horses (Cherokee and Midnight) trotted at a very slow and easy pace. The woods in fall were lovely and peaceful -- besides our guide, we were the only humans on the whole trail. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, but wasn't talking constantly, so that we could enjoy moments of quiet and contemplation. The stables close in November, so mid-October when the leaves are changing color is the perfect time to go.

We were up in Cherokee over the weekend and had the opportunity to take a one hour trail ride Monday afternoon(10/20). We had a great time. Our guide Tim was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We'd also like to thank Levi and Pete (our horses). The horses were very calm and easy to handle. We'll be back to take a longer ride on our next visit. I was surprised at how high up the mountain we rode.

We went on the 2 1/2 hour waterfall ride with Chris. This was by far the best experience we have had riding. The staff was friendly and the horses are wonderful. Great time and will return next year!!

I went horseback riding while the husband played cards at the casino. I went on the 2 1/2 hour ride and it was so worth the money! The employees are so friendly and are excited to make your ride the best experience. I will be back next year for sure!

We went to Smokemont for the one hour ride. It was an awesome ride. Not too long and not too short. The ride through the trails, water and tunnel was so much fun. The horses were great and very laid back. The owners were very friendly and our guide, Sonny, was so much fun.

Easy location and nice people. Just me and my daughter with an interesting guide. River too high to do the crossing, but still good value.

Staff were very friendly, the ride was great, and the views were breath taking. Will go back again and again. Thanks Smokemont, for it all.

Had the 2.5 hr waterfall ride. So much fun! The horses were well trained. Love my horse Black Jack. Staff was nice and helpful. Our guide Nolan was very friendly and knowledgable. The scenery was beautiful. I will be back!
