deal orchards

Not my first trip to Deal Orchards however, on this trip I purchased apples for the table, for cooking and some for the deer that visit my back yard. I also bought deer apples for a friend in Lexington. The apples are always fresh and delicious since they are picked in the orchard on the property and brought directly to the barn for grading and packing. We shop here throughout the season for apples, peaches and other produce. The nectarines are especially fantastic in season. On this trip though, the deer apples were unusually perfect, so much so that any other dealer would have sold them as perfect and priced by the pound. They were as good as apples sold in grocery stores and could have easily been sold as first quality. My friend in Lexington could not be believe they were deer apples they were so good. She actually cooked some that night for dinner. Needless to say we have been back for more.

I took my grandmother a couple of months ago, and we enjoyed the large selection of different foods, though you could find things that were out of date. So definitely check the dates.We got up to the counter and the lady checking us out was completely condescending and acted like we were burdening her with our business. We used to go every year, but I don't think I will drive 45 minutes to be treated that way, anymore. If I wanted to be treated that way, I'd go to a certain other place there in Taylorsville.

Nothing fancy; it's just an old country store type place, but they had a great selection of apples and handled a crowd easily. They had deer apples, too.

This orchard is a great place. Enjoyed my visit and will return as soon as I can get back to Taylorsville

The Deal family grows a wide variety of outstanding apples and nectarines. People drive for miles and miles to buy their fruit from this long-established family business. Try several kinds and while you're there, purchase some freshly-made apple cider and dried apples.
