I'm an outdoor-type person, and I live near a really good trout stream. That said, I have never attempted to fly fish until I went with a business group to the Trophy Section that DRO provides. We had an absolute blast and caught some really big trout on our trip. They provided everything we needed to get started, except the license and we bought it there at the store. The guide was very accommodating and taught us the basics as we got on the river. Within 15 minutes, we were catching fish and probably caught 50 between the two of us over the next couple of hours including several really big brown trout on top water flies. I would rate this place a 10 and would recommend anyone who wants a good trip to visit DRO.

My son and I went fly fishing yesterday with the help and advice of expert fly fisherman and guide Jeff Furman at Davidson River Outfitters. He did all the work while my son and I played all day. My son caught a ton of fish while I snagged a bunch of rocks in the water and tree limbs overhead. (Casting and coordination are not my strong suit.) But I did catch the largest fish of the day, and in this sport, bigger is better! Thanks to Jeff, Kevin and the crew at Davidson River Outfitters for an awesome time!

I am from Florida and just getting into fly fishing in saltwater. We recently vacationed in North Carolina and decided to give it a try on the rivers. We fished the protected part of the Davidson River with Nick and caught lots of fish including a couple big ones! Nick was a great instructor, very engaging and patient and he put us on the fish! He is also a very interesting person and we really enjoyed interacting with him. We will definitely be back and will go out with Nick again. Learned a lot and had lots of fun!

We had never been fly fishing. We had a very good time. Our guide, Nick was great. We caught 20 rainbows on our trip. 12 were caught by my wife. We learned the basics up front and then started fishing. A great adventure and we are booked for our second trip.

The people at Davidson River Outfitters know how to run a business! They are very professional, on the ball, and have an excellent selection of flies and etc.... Would highly recommend to the serious fly fisher!

Davidson River Outfitters aka "DRO" is without a doubt outstanding. I am new to fly fishing and would not be where I am today without the help, support, and guidance from the entire DRO staff. I had the opportunity to take casting classes with the local legend Kevin Howell, owner of DRO, and my fishing career has since then soared. Kevin is a very skilled fisherman and a world class caster. It was such a pleasure getting to learn from the best. The very first time I ever went fly fishing after my casting classes I landed three beautiful rainbows! I've also had the privilege of being guided by shop manager and ultimate guide, Walker Parrott. When fishing with Walker, expect to laugh and have tight lines all day. Walker is quite a character but an amazing teacher and fisherman. All of the guides are truly awesome. I would recommend fishing with any of them. They are great teachers and very intelligent fisherman. So, if you're looking for guidance in WNC the place to go is DRO.
