A lovely rustic family run campground & kayak/canoe service located along the White Oak River in Maysville, NC. The owners have operated it for over 40 years. They have 40 sites, many of which are great for a tent or pop up campers with 20 amp & water. Several sites offer 30 amp and are roomy enough for mid - large campers & 5th wheels. The few sites with full hookups - situated around the bathhouse - were all taken with seasonal renters. It is a pleasant park with some sites with shade trees and plenty of sites in the open green space.Sites have picnic tables and a fire ring of loose bricks. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept. There are vending machines and a ping pong table at the bathhouse. They have a dump station also. The owners are friendly and helpful. The kayak services include boat rentals and a shuttle service. We brought our own kayaks and Mike was very gracious about explaining the important details of kayaking the river and gave us a map of the river and also an aerial photo with the path through the quarry lakes highlighted (we would have been lost without it!) and the shallow spots where we had to portage marked. He also has placed markers along the river to help ensure you stay on the main river and don't go off down a tributary. We were able to drop our kayaks in the water just a few feet from our campsite. There are several fishing ponds on the property and they also have a Disc Golf course. There's a set of swings for the kids, but not much else for youngsters to do. Grocery store, gas station and ATM are just a mile up the road.We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend there and our 9 mile kayak trip down the river and look forward to camping there again. The ONLY negative thing is that it is located right along Hwy 17 so there's road noise - it quiets down by nightfall and didn't bother us - with a fan on inside our camper we didn't even hear the road.
