You cannot imagine the variety of cloth in this store. I've been visiting Mary Jo's since the mid 60s and have seen this store grow tremendously. The staff is very knowledgeable, just not very friendly. If you can get past the unfriendliness you can find just about anything you want in the way of fabric and/or notions.

Been going through out the many years, and I have never been disappointed. They have all the colors you would ever need great items on sale and if they don't have it they can order it for you.

We enjoy Mary Jo's. It is a Mecca of fabric. Now they have a web site, too! Add .com to the name. Of course, you have to feel it to appreciate it.

This store is an icon in the area and has been for years. There are so many choices, sometimes too many for me, although prices have crept up and unless I can't find anything else, it's more costly to sew for yourself than to buy ready made.

This place is huge, has tons and tons of fabric, notions, patterns, lace, ribbons, a quilters dream! I don't go unless I have at least 2 hours to browse around. Always find plenty of choices, sometimes TOO many! Love this place!

Mary's Jo's if known up and down the east coast. Bus loads make the trip. There is a large selection of every sort of fabrics. If you want to know what and how to sew they are there to answer any question. The prices are the best in this area.

They have probably every kind of fabric made and such a wide variety of colors and prints. Just about every NFL fabric and most college in cotton and fleece. Anything you need to sew they have it.

My experiences at Mary Jo's have been limited to needs seen for fabric by my wife, and each visit has been very beneficial.Last time we were there and searching for material for a living room couch, we met an interior designer who was there for the same reason. Lester is his name, and he was very helpful with the information. We took his advice, and I am happy we did because we would have been wandering for hours looking at the various materials. A good buy; friendly/helpful customers.

I was in there the other day and had found several pieces of fabric that I wanted so I got in line at the cutting table. There was one person in front of me and I noticed that the employee working the table was tearing the fabric instead of cutting it. When it was my turn I ask the girl to please cut my fabric instead of tearing it and was promptly told it was against store policy to cut fabric. I had her call a manager over and again was told they would not cut my fabric. I understand quilters like to have their fabric torn but I am NOT a quilter I am a sewer. I am also bipolar and OCD and I can't handle someone tearing my fabric or folding it! I have over 10000 yards of fabric and all have cut edge with NO fraying and every piece is folded the exact same width no matter how many yards the piece is. I shop a lot of fabric stores and NO ONE has ever told me they couldn't cut my fabric the way I wanted. I fold every piece of fabric as it is cut because I have to fold it a certain way, and never once has any other store given me a problem. I was not being rude about it I just have mental difficulties that will not let me do it any differently. Things have to be done a certain way or I get panicked and anxious. What ever happened to the customer is always right??? If I am paying for it and want it cut then CUT IT! And if they are not allowed to cut it why are there signs over the table that say "CUTTING TABLE"?? They should say TEARING TABLE! On top of all this they were extremely rude and unhelpful. I ask one woman if they had a certain fleece and was told, "I don't know. The woman who knows that isn't here" and then she turned around and walked away. The least she could have done was helped me look to see if they had it or asked a manager but she couldn't be bothered. Terribly rude employees and manager. Manager basically told me I didn't matter. Basically if I didn't like they way they did it I didn't have to come back! And trust me, I will never step foot in there again. Nor will I buy online! I would never spend my hard earned money in there, where customer satisfaction is the last thing on their minds!!

I've had the pleasure of living in Gastonia for over 20 years. Mary Jo's has been in the same location for years. I consider myself lucky to be so close because I've heard some ladies drive two days to reach this destination! They plan long distance trips around this stop and even stay overnight nearby! Any fabric, notions, pillows, stuffing, ribbopns, anything to do with sewing...Mary Jo's has it! The best part is, you can get as much or as little as you want or need! The staff is always friendly and very helpful.

THis was my second visit to Mary Jo's Cloth Store, and it's a consistent gem. I think it's heaven for a quilter: they have entire aisles for batiks, for stripes, for ditzy patterns, for hombres, for...everything! I am particularly impressed by the big aisle of re-enactment fabrics for civil war and period costumers. They have a selection of knits and separately in the store is an area for dance and costume activewear. There's a nice home dec section and a bridal section. What I think they are lacking on (relatively - they have a huge amount of fabric overall), is garment sewing silks, wools, and rayons. You will find something of all of these, but not a wide range. Besides quilting cottons, they are very strong on basic fabrics, i.e. there was a RAINBOW, not kidding, of cotton and cotton/lycra blend twills (think pant fabrics). Fabulous! Yes, I over-indulged there, but hey, I was on vacation. Fabric is my souvenir. If you sew, stop in because you'll enjoy it.

If you love quilting fabric and want variety read as solids, or novelty fabrics, stop at Mary Jo's when you are near Charlotte. Exit 21 on I-85. I totally disagree with the last two reviews I've seen. She carries Marcus, Northcutt, Robert Kaufman, all the dimples, fusions and other mixers you might need, and more novelty fabrics than you can find anywhere. I found the staff to be extremely courteous, helpful and always gracious. Yes, cotton fabric has increased in price, but she is still a bargain for many fabrics.

The selection was nice but the sales people were awlful. Could not get anyone to help us then when we did she was useless, talking to other people, Personal stuff, not store business....AS I said good selection, but some of it was cheap stuff, some of it was way over priced for me I did find something to use , but am not happy with it. Will look elseware before I return there.

I agree with Karmel's post. They are way overpriced and the fabric is below standard for those that want quality fabric for dressmaking. There is NOTHING there that is even close to designer grade fabric. I don't know why people think it's so great. Don't waste your time or gasoline to travel to this place.

I don't know why this is with restaurants because no food is allowed, but people come here from other states to shop for fabric. If MAry Jo doesn't have it, I don't know where you can find it.
