This quiet, beautiful arboretum is one of my favorite places in Chapel Hill. I love to experience the change of seasons her as well as just walk through or sit there any time. It is well maintained and has wonderful trees, shrubs and flowers depending on the time of year. It is a gem just on the edge of downtown Chapel Hill. We used to walk there with our dog almost every morning for about 10 years.

Not always well maintained in the winter but always lovely for a destressing stroll. It's not very big but the location on campus is perfect.

We had a great visit to this arboretum on the University of North Carolina campus. There are some enormous trees here. The site feels very peaceful. Plants are well labeled and the grounds were very tidy. We would definitely visit this cozy green space again when we are in the area.

Right inside the UNC Campus so very convenient to add to a tour. Pretty but small area. Lots of secluded places to sit and relax. All the plants and trees are labeled so that was very interesting.

What a treat to have such a beautiful spot right in the middle of UNC's campus. It's a tranquil place where you can find students studying, or just relaxing, taking in the beauty of flowers and trees.

One of the most amazing spaces on any university campuses. It is truly lovely at any time of the year.

We brought our puppy for a walk through the Coker Arboretum and were so pleased with the beautiful, scenic pathway we found. It's a gorgeous arboretum and the perfect place for a Sunday afternoon stroll!

A recent walk thru the Arboretum reminds me of the value of the Coker family bequest to fund this project. Some of the most beautiful plants in the South maintained with care, well marked and in a setting that is peaceful and tranquil in the middle of a bustling campus. A great place for a special picnic.

If in Chapel Hill and would like a place to walk around and relax, this is it. And I never knew it was there until this weekend until our daughter was showing us her dorm for next year. A truly hidden gem

First off, I'm a photographer. And we photographers LOVE Coker. In part it's because it's so close to Franklin Street (and the area churches) that it's an easy portrait spot for seniors, weddings and kids. The garden is lovingly maintained by volunteers and University groundskeepers. But for me the true spirit of Coker is the students and the community visitors. There's a middle aged Asian gentleman who can often be heard strolling the grounds and whistling the most beautiful melodies. There are college kids making movies and Utube videos for class projects. There are lovers cuddling and quarreling. And there's an occasional Chapel HIllian napping in a brought along hammock. What's not to love? My favorite, the sweet little bridge with the fountain, the Ginko trees in the late fall, and the beautiful thistles.

Relaxing and peaceful place to go for a walk, read, dream. Very well maintained. Nice place to take family and guests. Our friends from Belgium found it enchanting.

It was mid march when I was there. There were early signs of spring, but still lingering reminders of winter's dormancy. I did find a self-guided map about two thirds of the way through exploring the grounds, but it did not provide the depth of information I sought. This stop was not planned, but an opportunity which presented itself. From this perspective, it was a pleasant way to spend an hour or so.

Walking around the arboretum is very pleasurable. Everything is so green, well kept and clean. You want it to go on forever! We met some students who were singing and playing guitar. To the Coker - you won't regret it.

When everything is in bloom, nothing beats a warm afternoon in the arboretum. You'll often see students and professors and nature lovers taking in the scenery and sunlight. Great photo opportunities here as well.
