I have visited the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary six or seven times, all during the summer months over the past 20 years. On December 26, my family and I took a 2 hour tour, and we all loved the winter experience. The horses look beautiful in their winter coats and the colors of the horses contrasting with the snow is a fantastic sight. Our tour guide was very informed and allowed us many stops for taking photographs of the horses and surrounding landscapes. This is a beautiful place with a strong mission and I cannot wait to go back.

Just an amazing place to visit (if in the area YOU MUST VISIT) - enjoyed the scenery, history, Native American art, Sun Dance and of course the Horses. We took a private tour around the centre and met alot of horses such as curlies, Gruillos ans American and Spanish Mustangs. To add to amazing experience of visting this charity, the local Native Americans where holding their Sun Dance and the sounds of their celebrations rang through the Hills making our visit extra special and magical!

An extremely wonderful place to visit and an unforgettable experience to be so very close to these magic animals, the volunteers do fantastic work and the site is a conservationist's delight. A place to visit at leisure with plenty of time, there is a lovely shop, and also visit the rocks with those drawings thousands of years old, Just pure magic.

Let me make this clear. SHE is a huge horse lover. I am more vanilla about them. However, I must say that we both thoroughly enjoyed this amazing place with a mission of preserving a place for wild horses that would otherwise have none. Our tour guide was also the cook. He made it a great experience for everyone...and then made a great burger for lunch! We love this place and will definitely be going back to check on the horses and help support a great cause.

We visited the sanctuary this past August and took the private tour. Our tour guide Mark was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about not only the horses and sanctuary, but also the surrounding area and history. We took many great photos and were able to get a close look at the horses. We had a wonderful time and recommend spending time at this place.

Prayed that I would be able to go here before I left God's great green Earth and as "Miracle's do happen", He made that happen just a few days before this storm. It was the most AMAZING experience being with these magnificent creatures as God, My Father, Jehovah & My Sweet Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit said,"This pony run is for you and you alone."

Friendly welcome from the guy on the grill. Great food and enjoyed eating outside on the porch while watching the horses play. Great selection of horse types. Even saw chickens and pheasants. Even though it is about 10 miles south of Hot Springs it is worth the journey.

This was my favorite adventure in South Dakota/Wyoming. If you love horses, you'll love this sanctuary. Our guide, Dave, was friendly, knowledgeable and you could feel his passion for these horses. We actually were able to pet a few of the horses that were not too skittish. Just a beautiful place! I want to go again!

I brought my 3 girls and a friend and they all loved it even though it rained. There were hundreds of beautiful horses on very pretty land. It was non - commercialized and a modest operation full of a lot of love for these horses.

Expensive, but worth every dollar - especially if you are into horses. From start the finish the tour was amazing. Up close and personal with wild mustangs, getting to hear their individual stories, histories and life. We took a 2 hour tour with Gary, who was stories and knowledge was brilliant. He was patient in answering questions and not in a rush at all to get back in the two hours. We are not fans of "guided tours",but we are so glad that we did this one. There is no charge to visit the Sanctuary, you even get free coffee, the charge is only for any tours that you take.ONE WORD OF WARNING - DO NOT FOLLOW A GPS TO GET THERE, BELIEVE US YOU WILL END UP IN THE RIVER. DRIVE TO HOT SPRINGS AND FOLLOW THEIR SIGNS.

We pained $45 each for a two hour bus tour of this 73,000 acre sanctuary for wild horses or for those to live out their lives after service to our country or others. Very interesting place. Many different kinds of horses, Think there is a total of 650 horses.

I think this was the highlight for the kids. We have on rider and the others love animals. We did not go with them, but their faces showed that it was time well spent.

We arrived (without reservations) and were immediately greeted by Gary, our guide. After paying we waited approximately 10 minutes before boarding the bus. Gary was very informative and took the time to answer all questions. It was amazing to know that each horse had a name even though several of them looked very much alike. The horses were beautiful! The tour lasted right at 2 hours and was well worth the price.

I absolutely loved this place! Loved the horses each and every one. Staff was very friendly, tour was very informative and interesting. We got to get off the bus and see the horses up close, not just from a window. I even got to touch one, would definitely go again.

I always visit here when traveling west. This was my seventh tour, and it never fails to disappoint. The volunteer guides are very knowledgeable of the area and its history, and even know most of the 500 horses' names. The property has been a location for several movies and some of the sets are still there. It is also the location of a special Native American gathering each year.
