Your dog can run and play in the water with other dogs and wonderful dog friendly people. Miles of sandy beaches and a beautiful view.

Beautiful views of the water traffic. A great place to go for a beach walk, especially when the tide is out. Great to bring the kids and dogs. The down side, in the summer get there early the parking gets filled up fast!

This is our visit to the Seattle area for clamming. It is also our first try for clamming. We make sure that the tide was at least negative 1.5. According to the locals, the best area was about 1/4 mile walk from the parking area, near the bluff. We arrived at the beach about 1 hour before the low tide and saw the tide was in deed low and going out. The area was more rocky and full of green sea weed. When we see water shooting out and we would start digging close to the spot. We were successful at our first try and caught enough clams for a good meal.

We walked way down the beach and let our dog run free....he loved it! You can see the Olympics and even Mt. Rainier! It was a clear sunny day and we enjoyed our time there. Great place to kayak....lots of folks going out on the water.

Great place to spend an afternoon. Dog friendly, South facing, nice sand. The parking lot is small, so go early or prepare to park on the road and walk.

Such a beautiful spot. Walk to the end of the beach to the bluffs. They are clay cliffs. You can take your dog off leash further down..... But make sure you pick up after your puppy!! We love taking our schnauzer there for a run.

A beautiful walking, sunning, playing beach that is dog friendly! Easy to find and ample parking, though at busy times some may have to park on the street...Off leash dog area is to the right of the main park/play area...

We love to come to Whidbey and hit Double Bluff beach for hours of fun. The kids love it here - when they were young they dug moats and castles and now that they are grown they love to walk the beach, search tide pools and climb the cliffs. It is a much sandier beach than most. Puget Sound beaches with not as much harsh rocks. I love to kick off my sandals and walk in the sand. I love to walk and walk to other side of bluff (but be mindful of tide chart or you'll get stuck and not able to get back when tide comes in!) I then sit back in my beach chair and soak the beautiful view and share a picnic with the family. I also like how this is a bit of a protected cove so it is not as windy as many of the other beaches. It usually has a nice breeze but not so strong and cold as most of rest of beaches on Island.

Let me start by saying that I grew up on the east coast, where the water was definitely swim-friendly by May and that walking along the beach in pants and sneakers felt wrong, hah! That said, this place was wonderful! Most of the beach is off leash for dogs, which our little lab-doxie just couldn't get enough of! The views were gorgeous, there were lots of beautiful shells, rocks, drift wood, and some neat sculptures. Parking isn't great, but the beach doesn't feel crowded at all... you could be totally alone, if you wanted. I can't wait to go back!

I have been to Whidbey Island in the past but had never visited the Double Bluff State Park. The tide was out so it was a great time to take a beach walk. It is a great place if you like to collect shells. I highly recommend a visit.

Local advice led us to this south Whidby dog friendly state park. Warm afternoon at west end of Useless bay, tide way out, shellfish diggers descending ...dog loving help dig! Good handicap access (walker) and picnic table too. Off leash where it's important ...beach tidal area. Limited onsite parking, with a lot of cars parking on roadside just outside park entrance.

great views of Seattle and both mountain ranges. Dogs can be off leash and there is plenty of sand, fun, shells, and rocks. Picnic and spend the whole day. Fish cleaning station. Parking is bad so get there early or plan on walking a distance from your car.

This is a great family beach with sandy area for picnics, clam digging, dog walking with great off leash area. Parking can be a challenge but it is worth to visit.

I love this beach and go there whenever I can. You can walk for at least an hour or two along the beach with bluffs on one side and ocean on the other. Obviously, its best when the tide is out, so check a tide chart when heading out.

You could not ask for a better off-leash dog beach! We took our Lab at low tide and he was able to run and swim with abandon. The other dogs we encountered were friendly, as were their owners. The beach is clean and safe. The scenery here is magnificent and the beach is loaded with driftwood. As other reviewers have commented the parking lot is extremely small so plan accordingly for week days and low season.
