Nice Columbia River Beach beach.Watch for broken glass and thieves. We walked 50 feet past our beech blanket and our backpack containing, $400 prescription glasses, binoculars, house and car keys was gone. Re-keying our home and car cost us $1,200. It took 4 hours for AAA to arrive, open our car and to replace ignition key unit. (We fully endorse AAA and have been long time HAPPY AAA Members.)

This park is a real gem to the communities of Camas and Washougal. The Captain William Clark Park is an excellent place to visit and spend time while in Washougal Washington. Let's start out and describe the park in general. It consists of a long and narrow strip of land that runs along the Columbia river. Parking can be accomplished in the 4 parking lots that border the dike. There are miles of walking or biking one can do on top of the dike which is graveled and perfect for older folks and kids. Did I mention it was also flat? This is a great place to bring your leashed dog! This dike runs along the Columbia river. The scenes one sees along this dike pathway is nothing short of spectacular. You can see the opening to the famous Columbia River Gorge and the Cascade mountain range. Watch river traffic like large barges come down the river from this path. As you travel along the path to the east, you finally get to a wildlife preserve where you will see thousands upon thousands of migrating birds at certain times of the year. If your a bird watcher, this place was made for you. The BeachThe beach here is great for families with small children. It is sandy and long and it is shallow. There is enough room for everyone on a hot day. There are public restrooms and picnic tables with built in BBQ's one would find at any nice park. Bring your briquets and your hamburgers and your in business. Lots of trees to find shade on a hot day. What more can I say about this wonderful park? You just have to visit it for yourself and see what a great place it is. Plan to spend some time here. Especially if your walking on the dike trail. Lots to see and experience. Take your grandparents here to walk or a handicapped friend. The graveled dike trail is easy to travel upon. I hope you enjoy this very safe and clean park as much as I do.
