There is a cultural treasure tucked away in Uniontown, WA in the midst of the Palouse rolling hills. Today I was lucky enough to attend the opening of a show of three local artists; small, tastefully presented pieces. At least two of the artists were present to visit with attendees. Surrounding the show were the ever present and always interesting artisan studios. Frequently one is able to find artisans at work in their studios. Today was no exception. There is also a shop where one can purchase everything from foods and a cookbook, to handpainted silk scarves and clothing, to paintings, to one-of-a-kind jewelry, to photography greeting cards. And the list goes on. There is truly something for everyone at the Dahmen Barn. Of course, if one is into photography, there are the world-famous iron wheels that form the fence around much of the property. And the ever-changing fields. Currently there is construction of a large expansion to the original dairy barn. If a trip can be planned for a particular weekend (watch the website for dates: www.artisanbarn.org) there are worthwhile annual events - a holiday gala early in December, as well as Fall and Spring festivals. Intermittently, there are concerts, classes and book-signings at the Dahmen Barn.Don't miss the Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown WA. It's a special and unique place.

This old dairy barn has been updated to house 3 floors of art and art studios all showcasing local artists. There are even artists at work while you roam. The "Wheel Fence" that surrounds the property contains over 1,000 steel wheels mostly from old farm equipment.

Friends and neighbors who have visited all loved their "Barn experience." It is a fun and wonderful surprise out in farm country for the whole family.
