My friend and I dropped in for some live music and dancing. We had a wonderful experience with all of the above. The bar staff is friendly and helpful and the band was really fun. There was a great mix of folks the night we dropped in and so there was lots of good conversation, dance partners and fun to be had by all.

While attending the fathers day vintage trailer rally in the city park we tried the local fare. The Brick is the most recommended place, an old tavern with cold beer and very good bar food. Service always seems friendly and great. It can get crowded on weekend evenings though.

Our golfing foursome stopped in after a round at Suncadia and what a treat!! This is the oldest working tavern in the state of Wa - with a running water spit trough under the long bar - still working since the 1800s!! The beer was cold and the chicken wings were hot - a great stop. Service was excellent - a tavern filled with local history. Ask about the trap door in the floor that leads down to a private tunnel right to the mine shaft - that the miners used for their lunch breaks. A must see tavern!!

OK, so I had to drive back from Wenatchee to Seattle on Monday, October 7. Cle Elum is the half was point and perfect spot for a lunch break from driving. The problem -- the lack of any especially good place to eat. The way I figure it, if I am paying for food, why not choose the best? Several times now I avoided the shabby establishments in town and drove up to Suncadia resort. It isn't far and the food, view, service is worth the $7 -- $10 bucks more you will pay for lunch there. But, this time I wanted to find a new spot. I was traveling alone and wanted to do some research for the next time I bring my wife over the mountains. I did an internet search and all of the places in Cle Elum were rated low by reviewers. But, the Brick Saloon in Roslyn had ratings in the 80s. That become my destination for lunch and I found my way a very short drive from the freeway. The town has a lot of character and the building is historic. Huge industrial brick building with the oldest wooded bar in the state or something like that. It has a metal trough with running water under the feet of the bar stools for the miners and loggers to spit. It is still running. Cool feature. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the waitress, who looked like she enjoyed working there. Sat down with my paper. Turns out they have specials every day of the week and Monday was one dollar slider burgers. I did want a burger. So I ordered three with some fries and some slaw. Fantastic. The mini burgers hit the spot for sure. The waffle fries also near perfection. Very tasty. The coffee was just like going to Suncadia. Five stars. Ended up with a bill of about $8 for my lunch, but left a big tip because I enjoyed being treated so well. Look, there really isn't any other place near by that serves this good food set in an historic building in a beautifully rustic town. The Brick Saloon is worth the drive and the higher price. Next time bringing my wife. I know she will like it. http://www.bricksaloon.com/

We went to Roslyn because of the TV series so simply had to have a drink at The Brick - which turns out to be historically significant in its own right away from the series. Staff were v friendly and obliging, there was a good sized family room, crayons and colouring in were provided and sliders were good quality.
