Perfect location for a picnic or a campout. Make your way through the wooded trails down to the lake and search for skipping rocks

Did I say "My Favorite"!!?? This park brings back so many childhood memories. I spent my afternoons here as a young person with my friends. There are a lot of trails and lots of wildlife.... the park and camping are wonderful as well... a great place to take the family!

You will really like this campground if you are in the Olympia, Washington area. Nestled in the woods and a wonderful little lake to peruse. Even to come for the day is a treat.

This park is a hidden gem. For the avid runner it offers excellent trail running through a densely forested area. You get views of forest, creeks, campsites, the lake, and the other surrounding areas. Only annoying thing is you need a Discovery Pass to park there. Haven't ever swam in the lake - but some have said that it is a joy. Good luck with that.

The park is beautiful and in a decent location. The camp sites are really close together and most have no privacy. Not my favorite place.

This park is perhaps 10 miles south of Olympia, WA. But in other ways, it is worlds apart. Beautiful old growth forests, a deep blue lake, and great campground. Even for locals, a terrific place for a walk, or hike. There is nothing like walking through an old growth forest, and they are rapidly becoming far too rareWho would expect or hope for such a great natural experience so very close to the state capital.

We spent only one night, but wished we could have spent more! The tent we stayed in was large enough to hold a king size bed, a sitting area, small desk area with a mini-fridge, one-cup coffee maker and microwave. Bed was comfortable (memory foam on a platform) and the tent was clean. They do provide coffee, s’more makings, popcorn and fruit and muffins. You need to bring lunch and dinner food. We went at the end of the season so the camp ground was pretty empty, I can image that it must get very full in the summer months. The campsites are right on top of each other, so not a lot of privacy. Nice trails, lake with kayaks to rent and a concession stand that must be open in the summer. Bathrooms not too far with a shower that takes tokens. Not very clean though. We would stay again in the off season (September) so we won’t have to worry about the crowds.

My husband and I enjoyed some glamping at pampered camping. The tent was well appointed and about 15 feet square. The fireplace was a nice touch. We ordered a bundle of firewood which lasted us about 3 hours. The bed was comfortable and we had no problems at all with bugs or Mosquitos in the tent.

People everywhere. Only come here if you have a bunch of kids and have given up on the idea of privacy.

Nice variety of trails that are just right for an easy hour or two of walking. There is a campground, beach areas with concession stands, restrooms with showers, picnick tables and boat rentals. Enjoyable visit.

We had a family reunion at the Environmental Learning Center inside the park. It was the perfect location for a big gathering. They have a great commercial kitchen with all the dishes, pots & pans & utensils you might need. There is access to Deep Lake (which is actually a very shallow lake). 8 canoes, 4 paddle boards, a row boat & life vests are available for the ELC guests. There are also horseshoes, basketball, volleyball & baseball available - plus many hikes throughout the park.

It's an OK park. We camped there many years ago but sites are not private. Too much traffic in the camping area by day users. Facilities are basic and sometimes not clean. The lake is picturesque and is a popular swimming spot. Fishing is ok but you must have a boat, no fish around the dock or swimming area.

Let me start by saying that the location is excellent. Very large park, great lake and plenty of activities, they had an small amphitheater that hosted movies. However, as camping goes, people are right next to each other and there was no privacy. I agree during the day and right up to 10pm it is quite loud. We had people walking and kids riding bikes through our campsite because of the trails. But we did have a good time. We will never go back here to camp.

There are plenty of snakes in the water here, but otherwise this is a great place to go have a relaxing picnic with the family or friends. Just be sure that you pick up your trash when you leave! Leave it nice for someone else to enjoy.
