Great starting point to walk around Capitol Lake. The loop is about 1.5 miles so its perfect all ages/fitness levels!

Good place to park and walk, jog or run around Capital lake. Only bummer is they lock the restrooms too early in summer.

Marathon Park is a 2.25-acre waterfront park that earned its name as the start and finish site for the 1984 U.S. trials for the first Women’s Olympic Marathon. It is nestled into the southwestern corner of Capitol Lake’s north basin. The park is within easy walking distance (about 10-15 minutes) of the main Capitol Campus, downtown Olympia and its beautiful waterfront. From Marathon Park, you can take trails that circle the lake. It is a popular spot for walkers, runners and birdwatchers. If you walk east, you can reach a trail that switchbacks up to the Capitol Campus. There is no swimming allowed in Capitol Lake, so this is not a park to wade in, swim, or float. There is parking and restrooms available.
