I am an avid wine taster, always wanting to stop when I see a winery I have not previously visited, so I do have a lot of experiences to compare to. When we walked in to Domaine Pouillon we were greeted by Kyle - knowledgable, pleasant, friendly. (A very different attitude from a nearby winery we were at where we did not have a great experience - coming from a hike we did not look the part of people who might purchase, so were treated as such. ) It was a nice day so we took our second tasting outside to the cute patio area where he brought us a small plate of apples, cheese and crackers. Was such a nice touch! Yes the tastings are $10 if you do not buy anything, but you get 7 pours plus snacks. Then he came out each time we were ready for the next one to try and poured it so we did not need to get up and go inside. We ended up buying several bottles and will definitely return when we are in the area.

We love this winery and the wines. And now, they've added a tasting room and a deck. We were there during the crush, and briefly visited with Alexis and some of the people helping de-stem the grapes. He showed us a crush of mourvedre, which will be part of the 2014 rose.Domaine Pouillon's wines are an expression of the fruit and the winemaker's art. While the wines can be aged, they're almost impossible to resist now. Most are released three or four years after the vintage. One exception, however, was a 2012 merlot. If other winemakers follow Alexis' lead, merlot can become a wine worth drinking again. This is anything but weak and undistinguished. I highly recommend. But we loved everything we sampled. If you like dry Alsatian-style wines, you'll love a bone-dry gewurtztraminer that has one of the most wonderful noses you'll ever take in. His Rhone blends are also great. As is his rose.Last year, I asked Alexis what he learned while working in Chateaneuf-du-Papes. He said, "I learned how not to make wine."He's long since learned how to make wine. Great wine. If you're ever in the Hood River area, you owe it to yourself to cross the river and enjoy these wines. Steve TanzerArden DE

We stopped here w martins wine tours and fell in love with this place! The owner Alexis is a fascinating man, extremely knowledgable and hospitable. Had a picnic out the back whilst we tasted so got the best of both worlds. Thanks once again!!

We have roamed the wineries of Washington for 20 years and this winery stands out for the consistent quality of each varietal and blend. An off-the-beaten-path winery that is worth the extra three minutes of driving for the breathtaking view that accompanies the excellent rhone-style blends. We will return.

We originally visited in September 2012. It was an off the beaten path location and the tasting room was a little shack with amazing charm. We tried 5 wines and loved them all that we bought 6 bottles and joined the wine club. We visited again in February 2014 when they opened the new tasting room. They've really grown and the wine tasting is still a small intimate enjoyable experience, unlike the large wineries in the gorge area. You need to visit this place! Great prices and even better wines! You won't be disappointed!!!

Jen was great during our tasting - telling the story of how the winery came to be. The wines were tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Domaine Pouillon!

Yum! I was pleasantly surprised the first time I went to this winery. Who would have thought there was such an accomplished wine maker in little Lyle, WA! Really good, reasonably priced and it was just established in 2005. So we can expect it to get better and better! I'm excited to watch it grow!
