I am hiking at this park since 1998 and as it was always one of my favorite, not so much lately. Way way overcrowded, if you try to hike on the weekends, good luck finding parking space, even on the side of the road. Also, the trail heads are in horrible condition, especially the one used for biking. This trail is difficult even for walking, let alone riding a bike. I found out, a new park ranger took over managing this park last October and looks like, this person is more interested checking people's passes and sometimes harassing them, than doing some work improving the trail heads. The bathroom is an other story, it is just stinky and filthy, no soap if you try to wash hands. I think, decline is due to more visitors what this park can handle and also this inexperienced and cocky park ranger, who manages this park now.

Beautiful day to get up to the Middle of Wallace Falls. Popular hike with plenty of stops and starts to let people through. Satisfying view of the Falls upon arrival.

Went there on a nice sunny day. Hiked over 3 miles to Mid falls and back. There are 3 falls here on same river, and the medium difficulty trail was just enough for us. Great beautiful scenery all along; got some good pictures. There were plenty of people and families hiking there, with lots of friendly dogs on leashes.

This is a beautiful hike along the Wallace River. We went on a misty day so missed some of the view opportunities but the hike was still just beautiful. The only downsides are it's a bit of a drive, the trail is busy and they strictly enforce leash laws. That said I am sure this will become a favorite. Probably best to do mid week or early weekend mornings to avoid crowds. You'll need a discover pass for parking.

We were lucky to have perrrrrfect weather for a hike - it is so worth to check the waterfall and enjoy the great views on the way.

The hike is marked as medium difficulty, and it was a great hike- not too hard yet not a stroll through the park. The middle waterfall was the most beautiful. We had lunch at the top which was very wet. Overall it was a great.

Beautiful well-maintained trail. We took our 2 dogs and 2 kids and they had a great time. The lower falls viewing area is a great place to rest with a nice viewing area.

Love this hike! So pretty and peaceful and enchanting. Took my children there several times a summer when they were younger, great hike, views, trails.

This is a great hike that just about any conditioning level can do. It has some great views along the way to each of the falls and you hear running water for most of the hike. The views of the falls are some of the best in Western Washington. It can be done year round and gets pretty busy during the summer.

We went on a sunny day and it was 85 degrees! Make sure you take plenty of water....we hiked to the middle falls, little steep in some areas, I am a flat lander, and I made it! Most of the trail is in the shade and the pine trees smelled so good!

We hiked to the middle falls......being "flat-landers" from Texas and only living her since November and having hike only about four of five time any real distance....this was a realtively easy hike for a 52 and 64 year old!!!!We hiked it about 1:00 in the afternoon and were not too hot!! Take plenty of water for the hike up and down. There are places to rest and take pictures, go down to the water and cool off if you choose. It cost $10 for the all day parking pass.It is sooooooo worth it!!!!

This was a great hike. We started at the Wallace Falls State Park trail head, along the side of the Wallace River to the Greg Ball Trail, meandering up the hill, catching glimpses of the river and it's rapids as we went. It felt pretty steep in places; Washington Trails Assoc website says that its a 1500ft elevation gain, but it was very doable. You can branch off to the falls, but we kept on going up to Wallace Lake. (Washington Trails says that it's 8.2 miles roundtrip to the lake, but you can branch off onto a railroad grade road in a couple of places, which changes the mileage). The lake was gorgeous. We sat and had lunch looking out over the water, and surrounding peaks, and then followed a mile long trail to the smaller Jay Lake. At Jay Lake there are some camping pads that you can use (with a permit), and there's even a bathroom, complete with door, toilet paper and hand sanitizer!! The hike down was faster, but all that downhill was a little hard on the knees. I was glad of my hiking poles. You do need a Discovery Pass to park at the trailhead.

Wallace falls was immediately a nice hike since you are hiking alone the river for the first leg of the hike. This segment is fairly flat and easy to navigate with small children and/or dogs. Further up it becomes more challenging up to the lower falls where you can sit for lunch at a picnic table and take a small detour for a washroom break. The middle falls are very close to the lower falls and is an easy addition for anyone up for it. I did not go up to the upper falls but it is a little longer and more challenging. it provides a good variety of difficulty and the shaded trail makes it nice to take your time.Advice: Get there early. Parking fills up fast on weekends.

We hiked all the way to the Upper Falls this past Friday and it was pretty busy in spite of the rain. It was very beautiful! The trail is well marked but definitely stretches your legs once you get past the lower falls. We enjoyed the view from the lower and middle falls the best. If you don't want to go all the way to the top for bragging rights, you might not want to go because the trail is very rough and steep from the valley overlook (past middle falls). Use caution once you pass the lower falls if it is raining. The trail has lots of exposed tree roots and we saw several younger visitors tripping. It is a very beautiful hike and definitely a must hike for outdoor lovers.

We went for a day hike to Wallace Falls (lower and upper) and then on to Wallace Lake. The trails are well kept and the view of the two falls and the lake were fantastic. In total, we ended up having a round trip of 10.5 miles and taking 5 hours. I noticed there were a lot of families out with kids and also lots of dogs on the lower trails (to the falls). So, if you are looking for solitude this might not be the best place on sunny weekends. If you are looking for an intermediate hike with nice views, this is a great park. The road trail to the lake was very empty but well kept.Bathrooms on the trail and at the trail head were clean. Clean drinking water is also available at the trail hear. Discovery pass required for parking.
