This small, family run vineyard/winery grows magnificent cab, cab franc, merlot, & syrah grapes, sells almost all of them to exceptional winemakers (Quilceda Creek, Cadence, Longshadows, Tamarac & Canas Feast, to name a few). But the husband and wife team, Larry & Jane, along with pooch Argus are the heart and soul of Tapteil. Jane paints happy paintings of the estate and then turns them into wine bottle labels. So when you are out to taste the terroirs of Red Mountain, drive to the end of Sunset Road and follow the signs. You have reached the end of the rainbow, the pot of gold, of the best Red Mountain Reds, not to mention the sweeping views of the vineyards, the Horse Heaven Hills and Rattlesnake Mountain. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Adams. You will definitely take home wonderful memories and delicious wines.

Tapteil is located at the upper end of the Red Mountain wine district outside of Benton City. The winery now covers 25 acres. When you enter the tasting room, you are greeted in a friendly manner. Be sure not just to taste their wines, but also their imported olive oils and balsamic vinegars. This visit, my wife purchased wine and I purchased olive oil. Be sure to meet Argus, the winery dog!
