Suggest an EditRelated ContentTommy Thompson TrailThe Tommy Thompson Trail follows an abandoned corridor of the old Burlington Northern Railway and is named for a man who ran a narrow-gauge railway along the Fidalgo Island shore. Parts of the track is still visible in places (northern section of the north trailhead).Begin the trail at the port in Anacortes, heading through a business district and industrial area. After passing through the urban landscape you are rewarded with more a pristine view of Mount Baker rising over Fidalgo Bay. The trail's highlight is the railway trestle, nearly 0.5 miles long, across the bay to March Point. Watch for seabirds in the bay along this popular trail.
