We toured the museum and the beautiful home upon the hill. If you love history, you will definitely love this site. During our tour, there was a reenactment of Mrs. deMores. She presented the history of the lifestyle of their family while living in Medora. Very interesting.

First we stopped in the visitor center where we paid admission to the house. The visitor center has a couple of galleries and a short film devoted to the Marquis and his family. Later, we went up to the Chateau. As we walked up the steps to the porch, we were greeted by a docent who took us inside and told us about the Marquis and the dining room in which we stood. The whole tour of the house is a combination of guided/self guided. One docent will tell you about a couple rooms then as you go to another room, a different docent will tell you more. An interesting way to tour this place. We were never rushed, they allowed us to take as much time as we wanted. Photos were allowed. Most of the furnishings in the house are original. There are little placards in each room showing what is original and what is not. I highly recommend this place.

Loved seeing the Chateau and listening to its history. The setting is breathtaking. This is a beautiful part of North Dakota.

We hadn't known of this before we visited Medora. Stopped in and did the exhibits and the house. Very interesting and really gives you insight on how Medora came to be. If you are interested in history, you will like this!

You will find all you need to know about the Chateau de Mores home and the family who owned it at the excellent interpretive center. There are displays and a video presentation there, and clean bathroom facilities as well. We paid for the home tour, and got a very brief intro at the door of the home, and were sent off on our own to tour the house, for the most part. This did not make the house come alive for us, although there were plenty of original furnishings to view. Save time to view the Badlands. Visit the interpretive center and skip the house.

If you are interested in the history of Medora and this prominent mansion, the interpretive center's exhibits and information at this site will provide that information for you without charge. If you wnat to take a tour of the "chateau" to see the 26 rooms representing the lifestyle of the founder of the town there is a moderate charge. Not a highlight of our stay but interesting.

We enjoyed the tour of the château and interpretative center. The information is complete and gives a very good history of Medora. The restoration of the château is amazing.

I love historical sites and this was no let down. The tour was very well executed. And if something wasn't covered and I asked a question about anything in one of the rooms or just in General, the tour guides new the answer right away. The view from the veranda was gorgeous and I loved that there were benches to just sit and enjoy. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable few hours.

Professional level up to date displays in the visitor center. Fun gift shop. State interpretative employees in the Chateau ranged from good to snooty! Stop and sit on the veranda and enjoy the view! It doesn't get any better

This was all new to me and it was interesting to see how the "high-born" settled in The West. The house was well preserved and the actors and guides great.

The stagecoach was a great experience, realizing this was the mode of travel from Medora to Deadwood in 36 hours we hopped aboard. The ride was bumpy but much more authentic than the stagecoach in town that drove on pavement. It was a two mile ride along the river over dirt roads much as it would have been during the time of the stagecoach travel. The Chateau was an interesting part of Medora's history and the history of the area. There were pictures of Theodore Roosevelt and his hunting with the Marque. It was a great look a history for our grandchildren. They had great questions about life in the time period and were very interested in what life would have been like.

The tour of Chateau de Mores was very interesting. Not by vision of a "Hunting Cabin" but it looks like it was quite the place in it's day. Fabulous views of the Missouri river valley and the Owners cattle ranch. Many of the items in the house are original which really helps one visualize what life would have been like living there. Well worth the cost of admission.

We took the stage coach ride and we were packed in too many people; even one had to ride in the front with the driver. It was basically a 20 minute ride along the river (does not go on the bed of the missouri river as we had read). Would spend the money on a trail ride instead. The drivers were both very good; however, would recommend only for young kids; would spend the money on a trailride for those older than say 12. We declined the museum and tour as it felt like a money-grab.

Home was furnished with original décor. Loved the tour--so much to see. Happened to catch a historical reenactment which was excellent and a huge help in understanding the Marquis de More via the "newspaper editor" of the time. Great performance!
