emma prusch farm park

This park was a farm that was donated to the city. The history of the place is really interesting. The animals are fun for kids and the play structures wonderful. However, there's quite a bit of road traffic from the nearby freeway. This place is great but it doesn't feel like being away from everything.

Nice place for spending time with kids. But, you are too close to the freeway and air quality is not that great.

Took my two year old granddaughter here on a Friday afternoon. She loved it! They have a large grass area, several picnic areas, an orchard, barns, some pigs, and lots of chickens. There's a nice walking path that goes around it if you want to get some exercise, and a fun playground area for the kids. It is very well maintained. Would be a great place for a company picnic or family reunion. Will definitely go back, especially since it didn't cost anything!

Emma Prusch Farm Park is in the middle of the city in San Jose - its so nice to have this farm where you can go visit the farm animals, see vegetables growing, and see farm life in general.The name of the park comes from Emma Prusch, who loved her dairy farm so much, that she gave the farm to the city in 1962 to be enjoyed as a farm park.There are farm animals such as chickens and goats here to be seen. Some local 4H activities for kids is held here.Group functions can be arranged through the city here....such as birthday parties, etc.The park has community gardens, a fruit orchard, and open grass area for playing or relaxing.

This park is hidden in a very busy area of SJ. There are lots of picnic tables, old farm machines for kids to climb on and explore. Nice new playground climbing structure for kids of all ages. Very clean and well maintained. Place to hold parties sectioned off too. Clean restrooms. And lots of land for kids to run.

The park consists of rolling grass complete with a little rolling hill for rolling kids, two age level play structures, community garden, a barn with livestock that tickles the olfactory, a chicken yard with several kinds of fowl,some antique farm eauipment good for photo ops, a small collection of plants and trees from around the world, a Victorian house with limited public access, and a building having well maintained restrooms and meeting rooms, Springtime is birthing season for livesock and is a good time to visit. In the fall there is a pumpkin patch and halloween storytelling for the kids.

We take our kindergarten/first graders here on field trips. Its absolutely amazing. I highly recommend for 5-7 year olds. Great learning experience.
