redlands shooting park

So excited to finally have found a shooting park near the Desert. Redlands is exactly a one hour door to door easy drive and it's a wonderful facility. We went during the week and even though they had several trap fields reserved we were able to shoot skeet on one of the several open fields. It felt like our own private field! The skeet fields have the pull controls on a long extension cord which you carry with you from station to station and my husband and I just pulled for each other. The skeet mechanical equiment worked exceedingly well-we shot 10 rounds each (over 2 days) and I think we had only 1 broken bird from one of the houses. My husband had a few double breaks with one shot so we were fairly confident that the calibration was right on. Melisa and Allison run the front desk and they are very friendly! Pay attention to the ammo restrictions they have for shot size and velocity-but they referred us to Ammo Brothers about 20 miles away and we were able to purchase just what we needed. The scenery was a beautiful backdrop for trap and skeet (this is NOT a pistol range, thank goodness). On our second day of shooting we noticed how well they cleaned the fields from the prior day-we had no problems with footing at all. Do keep in mind that they take an ID in exchange for the blue card which is loaded with your payment for the rounds.....we inadvertently left the second day without getting our driver's license back, but they were very kind in mailing it back to us. The only complaint is that the restrooms are very dated and some updating to them and some of the seating areas is needed. Overall a great facility and we will be back frequently.

If you're a trap shooter, this field has great targets with an exceptional background. The gray shot screens make the targets POP right out. They set the targets correctly. There isn't a lot of attractions right around the field, but I go to shoot trap, not lounge around.

My significant other is a trap shooter and as such we travel to everts all over California, Utah, and Nevada, to name a few. This is the place I least look forward to him shooting. The place is nothing but dirt everywhere and the benches for spectators are broken down with nails sticking up and splintered wood. No one there is particularly friendly or puts forth any effort to make you feel you're glad you came there. It is sad and tired and awful.
