Great views A bit away from restaurants/bedsOriginal course layout was terrible. Now just bad - not a fair test

Driving into the Dragon was a lovely experience. The architecture was exquisite, the vistas beautiful, amazing peace and tranquility.

Some fairways wet conditions in a drought which was surprising. Undulating greens..some rather smallish. Pace of play was good most of the time. Good routing. Good practice facilities. Far away from anything, but several other courses nearby.

Played from the 4 Dragon Tee (Blue) and I had a great time not just playing golf but I enjoyed the scenery. There is rarely a flat lie and this is the kind of course I like. Course had some dry spots but I guess that's expected with California being in a drought. The bunkers didn't have the "best sand" though. I would invest some money into getting that good looking powdery white sand. Some bunkers had water in them but still course was great. I played Gray's Crossing, Old Greenwood and Plumas Pines and THE DRAGON beats them all. GPS on the carts would have been nice. Only reason I did not give them an outstanding. Customer service was outstanding. I had the first tee time for the day and the quickly got range balls for me to warm up. I will definitely return to play this course again.

Wonderful course and in great condition. Very challenging from 7000 yards. Forward tees do provide some thought and challenges. One hiccup... the "staff scheduler" objected to staff switching their schedules and verbally disciplined them as I was checking in. Not professional. Other than that it was great experience.

Wonderful design, excellent condition and challenging! So glad we were able to play here twice!!! The pace was speedy and the layout well suited for women golfers as well. Worth the short drive from Reno or Truckee.

Stopped here for lunch after a recommendation from Gloria at Clio's River Edge RV Park. All I can say is WOW. We were served by Dawn for lunch and had the tuna sandwich and fish tacos. Both were unbelievable for freshness and quality. We will be back soon. Cannot recommend this spot enough. Enjoy.

Fun course, very challenging and tough greens. Loved the deer on 18. Only an hour from Reno and well worth the drive. Be sure and use the suggestions on the score sheet really helps

The Dragon golf course is under new management and has made a lot of changes. I feel that the changes make the golf course more enjoyable to play.

Beautiful place for rest and relaxation! The lodge was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is worth seeing in and of itself. Great walks and views from all over the course............even if you don't want to golf. Well staffed by people who care about their customers.

I'd heard that the course was too difficult and not always fair, but I had a great time here and I'm glad I came to play it for myself. I will say that if you want to hit driver on every hole, you're probably going to lose a few balls. Some holes narrow down where your driver might go, but a hybrid or 3 wood would normally land in a much wider area where you wouldn't have to dig out another ball. The course is in great shape and the greens are fast and smooth. The practice facility is very nice as well. The scenery is spectacular, and each hole is unique. As long as you hit smart shots that are within your ability, this is a fantastic course.

With new owners, the course is in great shape with great service. Resturant is on limited hours during fringe season. Fun course with beautfiful views, but bring your a game.

Scenery was lovely, which is a draw for us when we travel to golf. The course is a challenge but it is fair.

Just to be on the patio of this Frank Lloyd Wright Clubhouse will transport you. You don't need to be a golfer to enjoy a visit the Nakoma but if you are, be prepared for a fun challenge. The new owner has invested millions to bring the course back alive and has even re-constructed a few holes. We had tapas and wine after our game and it was magical.

My husband and I played this course for the first time, and it ate our socks! It is mountain golf in a beautiful setting with a very challenging layout in the Sierra's, about an hour away from Reno, and north of Truckee and Lake Tahoe. Make time to play this course.
