Only a section of the large complex is open for visitor: the visitor's center which houses a small exhibition hall and a book store, the hall of 10K Buddhas, and the restaurant. There aren't 10,000 Buddhas in the hall. The vegetarian restaurant is quite good.

This was a pretty nice stop point on our way back from Mendocino and towards the Vichy Springs Resort for the mineral baths. You first walk to the administration building which has the cleanest public bathrooms I've ever seen. They have a little museum in there and the front desk person will give you a map. We then walked over to the Temple with 10,000 Buddha statues. I can't confirm there were 10,000 as I didn't count, at all, but it was still a nice sight. Although, there was an American lady who yelled at me for walking in the middle of the Temple saying I can only walk in the sidelines when there isn't a service. She was quite snappy which wasn't very zen of her.Afterwards, we walked over and saw the small, but lovely, koi pond then headed out. I heard the restaurant is delicious for any type of meat or non-meat eater (it's vegetarian). I think we spent about 30-40 minutes in total. It was pretty neat. There are also peacocks roaming the ground, just like the SF Zoo.

We love going out just to lolly-gog around & catch lunch. Very serene. So interesting to watch another culture so engulfed in their surroundings.

We come here every year at New Years to refresh ourselves from a hectic year and to reflect on what's ahead. The walk and seeing the wild peacocks roaming the several acres is very enjoyable as well as peaceful. You feel so removed from the chaotic pace of the outside world. Definitely worth the 4 hour drive for us.

Not sure of the history of the CTTB site, but the building construction and the layout of the grounds fell very military like, so it was a little difficult getting into the flow of the facility. The onsite vegetarian restaurant, however, was incredible. The selection and quality of food was excellent, and the non-alcoholic varietal grape juices they produce on the property are outstanding. A must stop for lunch, plus some time for walking around and collecting peacock feathers.

An unexpected oasis of tranquility. A perfect place for meditation. It's very close to town, only a five minute drive, but a totally different world.

This is a peaceful, unassuming community which provides education, reflection, and healthy eating at their vegetarian restaurant. The temple really does have 10,000!miniature Buddhas on display. Live peacocks stroll the grounds for photo ops!

This is not a kind of place you'd find in the top 10 places to visit in California, but it's very unusual. It's a living buddhist community, so let me leave the religion aside for this review. This is a small town with a lot of streets and buildings, but the visitors are generally restricted to only 3: the admission center with a small museum and a book store, a temple and a restaurant. After traveling to Asia, seeing a Buddhist temple in a converted industrial looking building is not that impressive and a non Buddhist, I probably was not able to appreciate the service, but it looked very similar to what you find in China. The admission center/museum/book store and kind of self explanatory - you'd find there exactly what you'd expect to find. The restaurant. It's basically a vegetarian place service Chinese food. The food was good, the service was excellent and the prices were reasonable, the only catch is they take cash only.A couple more things. They do have a lot of free roaming peacocks, so take your pictures. And, the most important. This is not meant to be a tourist attraction. People are actually trying to follow their rules over there, so please, try to be respectful and don't expect too much attention.

Had been to this City of Ten Thousand Buddhas with family on 7th September 14. It is an International Buddhist Community and a monastery. This is in Ukiah California, 100 miles north of San Francisco. We had a pleasant ride on the 101 highway. It is near to Lake Mendocino. Jewelled hall of 10000 Buddhas is being adorned with Streamers and Banners. The Hall of Buddhas is very big and meant for doing meditation. In the Complex we can see many animals roaming round, like Peacocks, Deer etc..However we had seen many Peacocks roaming round. It seems they are quite accustomed with the visitors. There are two schools also in the complex. There is also a vegetarian cafe which is supposed to be good. However we missed the opportunity as the closing time was 3 pm.Smoking and taking Alcohol is strictly prohibited in the complex.

This was a calm and nice place to visit with the family. We read reviews about the food so went there. The food was awesome. Service is ok. If you have a couple hrs at hand then worth visiting. Good cultural experience. I was really surprised to see to that peacocks were so comfortable around people. Usually they are a shy bird and don't like getting to close to people.

A nice little stop over on our way to Eureka from the Bay Area.We spent a couple of hours here. After registering at the Admin office, we checked out the small museum and the gift store. This is a small little monastery with two schools and a little vegetarian cafe. The food at the cafe was really nice. What i loved about the place were the peacocks that were roaming about.

Going to the City of 10 Thousand Buddhas is a cultural experience without having to travel. I love the restaurant! Hours are limited (Wed-Mon 11 - 3) so we don't make it there very often but I can never get enough of the wonderful food! The service is a little unique, so go with an open mind. They only take cash. Make sure to pick up some vegetable buns to go. They make great snacks or meals. You can pop them in the microwave for about 1 minute.

What an awesome and peaceful experience. I could go on and on about this place. All I can say is, if you are in this area, you must stop by and check this place out. I have not felt so relaxed and at peace. Everyone was kind and went out of their way to make this place even more amazing. I would love to thank everyone for all the gifts! <3
